The Role
The SEUP U18 Support Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a school strategy for student engagement and wellbeing that aligns with the RMIT Global approach and meets the needs of the Vietnamese context to provide an enhanced student experience for younger students. The Support Coordinator plays a key role in monitoring the health, safety, wellbeing, engagement, and academic progress of students under 18 years old (U18s) by encouraging them to seek support early, building rapport with disengaged students, and proactively reaching out to parents and carers to garner their commitment for support.
The SEUP U18 Support Coordinator will ensure ongoing delivery of support programs and a suite of social, wellbeing and life skills training, resources and activities with an aim to boost younger students’ resilience, engagement, personal growth, progress with studies, connection and sense of belonging.

, and that SEUP practices adhere to RMIT’s policies and procedures.
Your Responsibilities
- Ensure processes and practices reflect a child-focused lens, and prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people at all times
- Upholding RMIT’s commitment to the safety of all children and young people by modelling and championing the implementation of the RMIT Child Safe Framework
Child Safety
- Complete all training pertaining to child safety and related legislation to ensure up-to-date knowledge
- Promote a culture of child safety in all areas of SEUP including academic programs, administration, communications, student engagement and support, student recruitment and marketing, and professional learning for staff to ensure awareness and compliance with both the rights of children and our responsibilities.
- Identify, report and resolve complex student welfare issues in consultation with RMIT Vietnam SEUP Director, RMIT Vietnam Senior Manager - Wellbeing, RMIT Training Director - Wellbeing & Student Experience, RMIT Vietnam Safer Communities staff, and RMIT Vietnam SEUP and RMIT Training academic and professional support staff.
Pastoral Care
- Conduct welfare interviews and liaise with staff, parents, and carers as necessary in the resolution of issues and development of support plans
- Consult with RMIT counsellors and Safer Community staff as required to support young students who have been harmed or are at risk of harm.
- Facilitate independent learning by assisting students to access Student Wellbeing, Academic Support and Experience resources and programs.
- Address barriers that limit the help-seeking of ‘at risk’ students
Awareness and professional learning
- Advocate for the needs of U18 students and report on initiatives in place to support them
- Provides insights into possible gaps in or between services, progress made over time, challenges and tension points, best practice and continuous improvement
- Work with data and stakeholders to identify emerging and unmet needs
- Deliver regular staff briefings and share key learnings with colleagues and collaborate to develop solutions to meet those needs
- Encourage the use of educational technology to engage different student learning styles
- Develop approaches, deliver professional learning, share resources that support greater wellbeing literacy amongst students, staff and parents.
