Facilities Management Assistant

The **Facilities Maintenance Assistant** works with the General Services Officer (GSO) and Administrative Officer primarily in the area of maintenance and repair operations, and secondarily (and in accordance with Post needs) with housing, motor pool, supply, warehousing, and receiving operations; provides on-site oversight for rehabilitation and new construction to ensure compliance to U.S. building/safety codes, completion schedule, and quality of work; performs or provides guidance to local contractors in the areas of maintenance and repair. Under the direction of the GSO, manages the Post preventative maintenance program, processes work orders, and may assist in the supervision of FSNs. Serves as the only cleared US employee O&M operations in secure areas; provides or evaluates cost and supply estimates for rehabilitation and new small-scale construction projects, identifies needs and arranges for purchase of parts, equipment, and supplies for maintenance operations and other supplies; identify and make recommendations for potential housing/office space, and assists the general services and administrative officers in any other areas as required.

**Qualifications**
- Five years’ experience in O&M field - such as repair and maintenance, supply, property management, acquisitions, new and rehabilitation construction
- Journeyman license or equivalent in either electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC trades with at least 10 years construction or contracting experience
- Knowledge of other building trades sufficient to oversee rehabilitation or new construction projects. Familiarity with U.S. building/safety codes. Supervisory experience in building trades is strongly desired
- Ability to meet and deal with local tradesmen and suppliers
- Ability to analyze repair or construction requirements and provide accurate cost estimates and identify potential suppliers
- Must be 21 years of age or older, have completed secondary school or obtained a GED
- Four-year college degree or completion of a trade school is preferred.
- Must be able to operate independently
- Previous work experience on Department of State projects in Russia, China, or Eurasian posts strongly preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance
