Strategic Account Director

Our client is hiring an Account Director in Vietnam to accelerate their growth with major enterprise customers, especially in the financial sector. This role carries full sales ownership for the Vietnam market, covering the entire cycle from prospecting to closing, while working closely with global delivery and technology partner ecosystems.
About
60% of the role focuses on farming

40% centers on hunting,
opening new relationships, especially with top-tier BFSI clients.
Job responsibilities:
Business Growth & Account Strategy
- Serve as the primary commercial lead for the Vietnam market, responsible for revenue, forecasting, and long-term account strategy.
- Balance
account management (60%)
with
new business generation (40%)
, prioritizing expansion into top-tier banks and financial institutions. - Identify and develop opportunities across new and existing clients, driving transformation-led consulting engagements.
- Own the full sales process, from prospecting and stakeholder mapping to shaping solutions, pricing, negotiations, and deal closure.
- Build structured account plans and maintain a healthy pipeline aligned with revenue and margin expectations.
- Support strategic deal negotiations in collaboration with regional leadership.
- Lead Vietnam-based campaigns, events, and partner-led initiatives to generate demand.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the key relationship owner across enterprise accounts, engaging senior stakeholders in technology, digital, transformation, and procurement.
- Develop a strong understanding of client priorities, technology roadmaps, and regulatory pressures to position the company as a long-term strategic partner.
- Conduct recurring check-ins, business reviews, and executive touchpoints to ensure satisfaction and identify growth opportunities.
- Convert client feedback into actionable account actions and upsell/cross-sell pathways.
Partnership & Ecosystem Collaboration
- Strengthen collaboration with cloud, core banking, fintech, and emerging technology partners to build and execute joint opportunities.
- Participate in partner-led business planning and revenue reviews, aligning pipeline and delivery priorities.
- Maintain strong relationships across partner sales, technical, and account teams to increase visibility and co-selling momentum.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work closely with global engineering, consulting, and delivery teams to ensure smooth execution of engagements.
- Share insights on evolving technology trends and their relevance to the financial sector.
- Represent the organization at industry, client, and partner events to enhance presence in the Vietnam and APAC markets.
Job requirements:
- 8+ years of experience
in
account management, business development
targeting Vietnamese banks and financial institutions, with an established network across senior technology and business stakeholders. - Background in
enterprise sales
within
technology consulting, cloud, digital banking, or large-scale transformation programs. - Comfortable leading long and complex sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers.
- Strong mix of hunting capability and relationship management skills.
- Ability to operate independently in a lean regional commercial team.
- Understanding of how Vietnamese BFSI clients evaluate technology vendors, manage budgets, and run procurement processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive engagement skills.
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English.
- Strong interest in financial technology, cloud modernization, and digital transformation trends.
