The LINE MANAGEMENT, of which the MD is part of, the "line of Bosses and GENERALISTS":
Mainly in charge of ALL products, HR, finance and accounting, controlling, general (= nontransport-related procurement, rental and investments, sales and marketing, assignment of the right competences to the right people in line with the corporate directives and coordination of these competences, legal representation and compliance with internal and external regulations, leading the reporting, target setting and budget process, the internal and external CIP (=continuous improvement process), internal audit, training and quality.

Within their OVERALL personnel, performance and results (net return and quantity growth) responsibility, line managers ensure, that things are handled in a correct, sustainable and successful way.

The PRODUCT MANAGEMENT is the functional line of "SPECIALISTS AND EXPERTS, led by the CPMs (Corporate Product Managers) who are in charge of the Regional (RPMs) and National Product Mangers (NPMs). They are the spearheads of our

commercial development, product definition and technical know-how within their fields, as well as within the combination of their fields with other fields (e.g. sea + warehousing + distribution + P/O-management). Product management is actively involved in the general sales process through management sales and Key Account Sales, Vertical Market

Sales/Small Niche Markets..

Corporate Product management focuses on the KNOW-HOW-related questions in the short, as well as the long-term of WHAT, ON WHICH MARKETS, HOW, WHEN and WITH WHICH TOOLS the business in their special product markets shall be driven forward.

Commercial responsibility (especially, but not limited to)
- financial success and profit, responsibility for fulfilling company ́s budget
- leading all aspects of SALES, such as field sales, Key Account Sales, Management Sales, Vertical Sales, Trade Lane Management, Route Management, SEW (Eastern and Central Europe only) and MARKETING directly or through the Head of Sales, Global Network Development (GND) or Product Management
- ensuring proper REPORTING TARGET setting and BUDGET processes
- leading controlling as described in the Controlling Handbook
- setting, monitoring, reviewing and achieving targets and budgets, budget control, setting out mitigating or additional actions in cases of non-achievement or changing environment
- assuring compliance with the rules of "no black routings" and "proper profit split"
- acting as a driving force (leader, innovator, guide, controller, motivating force,) behind company ́s growth and prosperity
- reviewing company ́s performance and financial RESULTS and acting accordingly
- avoiding unpredictable, unnecessary or exorbitant RISKS for the company (e.g.: customs, trade marks, possible fraud, bad debts, dangerous, perishable or contaminated goods, collection of B/L's prior to container release, holding of COD goods pending bank

release)
- own key account management
- in cooperation with the product management: price policy, margins, identification of loss
- making clients
- timely actions with loss-making or not particularly profitable businesses, clients, departments
- assuring annual reviews of all important purchase relations of the company in the field of both transportation and general administration

Business policy (especially, but not limited to)
- law-abiding conduct of the company
- conduct of the company as to the benefit of the whole group and within the guide-lines and management instructions
- coordination with HQ and its staff, line managers and other branches
- contacting agents in accordance with company's policy, personal contact with key agents
- development of existing and implementation of new traffic lanes

Responsibility for personnel (especially, but not limited to)
- leadership towards the achievement of the organization's VALUES, VISION, MISSION, strategic and annual targets, current and general CIRCULARs of the Chairman and instructions of the Corporate superiors
- measurement, evaluation of achievements of targets and results and effecting the relative BONUS payments to management, sales and operations in line with the respective contractual obligations and corporate directives
- ensuring company ́s coverage of all functions required by HQ
- establishing and maintaining talent development program, internal mobility, traffic relation responsibility, as well as all other items as described in detail in the HR

- planning, recruiting and dismissing staff
- evaluation and remuneration of the staff
- training and development; job-rotation, internal mobility of the staff
- building up stable and successful management in cooperation with the
