**Medical Advisor**

**Position purpose** (A brief statement indicating the basic purpose of the position)

The Medical Advisor acts as the primary scientific expert in the Therapeutic Area proactively providing training, scientific advice and strategic input to internal and external stakeholders as well as the scientific community. The position holder shall drive the localisation of the global medical & brand strategy, develop and execute the local medical & brand strategy in alignment with cross-functional, local and regional strategic partners. The incumbent is accountable for scientifically validating all materials and developing and contributing to multichannel campaigns and relevant scientific materials. The Medical Advisor contributes to the generation of clinical evidence to address information gaps for the products across the life cycle.

The Medical Advisor establishes long-term scientific/strategic relationships with key, influential physicians/scientists/stakeholders and with related major medical associations and academic centers of excellence.

The Medical Advisor is responsible for assigned TAs.

**Major tasks and responsibilities of position**

**1. **Strategic contribution**:

- Responsible and accountable for driving and executing the localisation of the global medical and brand strategy, by using local field insights and partnering with both local cross-functional teams and regional teams.
- Responsible and accountable for developing and executing the local medical & brand strategy for responsible products that don’t have the global/regional medical & brand strategy by using local field insights and partnering with both local cross-functional teams and regional teams.
- Responsible and accountable for using cross-functional knowledge to create medical multichannel campaigns: including content development, multichannel strategy and the customer journey.
- Responsible and accountable for driving a strategic partnership with local cross-functional teams.
- Accountable for aligning evidence generation with medical and brand strategy; including ensuring proper alignment for defining the scope of potential Observational Studies (OS) and Investigator Initiated Research (IIR).
- Accountable for providing scientific contribution to the development and implementation of Patient engagement programs with local cross-functional teams and local external organizations.

**2. Data collection, analysis and interpretation**:

- Accountable and responsible for managing study-related medical activities for Interventional Post-Approval Trials (IPAT), Observational Studies (OS) and Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) as locally required.
- Responsible and accountable for reviewing and interpreting analytics and relevant field insights to optimise and manage medical content and adapt the evidence generation plan (e.g. in National Advisory boards, One-on-One consultation, Thought Leader (TL) interactions, Surveys ).

**3. Managing external relationships**:

- Responsible and accountable for fostering Medical Affairs relationships with Thought Leaders and external stakeholder groups e.g. healthcare organisations, medical societies, research groups, patient groups, government/ regulatory institutions.
- Responsible and accountable for managing the Integrated Thought Leader Management (ITLM) and Thought Leader activation as aligned with cross-functional team.

**4. Medical scientific/educational programs**:

- Accountable for providing scientific contributions to the development and implementation of local medical educational programs for HCPs that Bayer supports (e.g. Continuing Medical Education programs, Medical Scientific Events ).
- Responsible for providing scientific contribution and accountable for speakers preparation for all Bayer scientific events as aligned with the local cross-functional team.
- Accountable for providing scientific contributions to the development and implementation of local patients/community medical educational programs that Bayer supports
- Accountable for providing scientific contributions when required to Thought Leaders, Healthcare Organization and Health Authority (e.g. development of local treatment guidelines).

**5. Internal support**:

- Responsible and accountable for providing medical support on internal projects e.g. pre-launch activities, reimbursement processes, dossier development, commercial campaigns etc.
- Responsible for aligning with internal functions to review Summary of Product Characteristics including translations and updates.
- Responsible and accountable for proactively ensuring that Bayer medical activities are in-line with relevant guidelines, regulations and legislations.
- Responsible for providing scientific education and training to cross-functional partners (e.g. Sales and Marketing) on product data, therapeutic area knowledge, and local clinical operations and clinical development studies.
