Function


The Tax job family encompasses global roles accountable for the design and implementation of tax strategies, policies and the tax governance framework.

It also includes the provision of tax support to Diageo's business units, delivery of projects to create shareholder value, and proactive management and mitigation of key tax risks.


With the rapid digitalisation of indirect tax administration, the Tax Compliance team is increasingly dealing with real-time tax audits and other data requests from various authorities by providing timely access to accurate data.


In addition to the tax compliance responsibilities, the team is heavily involved in the delivery of the Global Tax mission and Performance Promise agenda.

About the Role


The purpose of this role is to ensure that the market's Tax Compliance processes are undertaken accurately, efficiently and delivered on time with the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to.- Ensure complex direct and indirect taxes, connected supplementary returns are prepared effectively, timely and accurately according to global standard process and controls in addition to local DTPs.- Ensure financial processes are undertaken accurately, efficiently, on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly adhered to in line with CARM processes.- Manage and coordinate tax-related document retention for your markets.- Support tax-related advisory topics within the scope falling under your remit.- Prepare and post accruals/adjustments/other required journals to ensure the month-end results show the clear and fair picture, and facilitate smooth and accurate month-end closes.

- Provide insights on understanding and business reasons of movements on accounts, and collection and presentation of Risk & Opportunities- Convert and map General Ledgers to VAS financial statement of 1 entity- Prepare quality reconciliations through deep understanding of the figures supported, reported and ensure follow up and action item is taken and closed

  • Process Enhancements_
  • Identifying and driving continuous process improvement in cooperation with the tax manager through establishing a LEAN approach to drive effectiveness and efficiency
  • Supporting process improvements and rollout of standardised processes and automation re in scope markets.
  • Manage routine taxrelated audit enquiries and tax projects for your markets in cooperation with tax manager.


 Statutory_
  • Partner with Global and Local SMEs to ensure compliance with market specific regulatory and legislative requirements/changes
  • Prepare any statutory report requested by authority (both ad hoc and periodic) such as statistical report, investment report, and corporate business survey
  • Manage external auditor for Statutory Audit of the 2 Entities
Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages

  • Essential:_
  • University/College degree in finance/accounting/business/CPA
  • At least 34 years working experience in a multinational corporate environment
  • Capable of working in a deadline driven environment.
  • Hard working personality, flexibility for adapting to change with a positive attitude
  • Fluent in English, able to communicate effectively to build strong relationships with operational staff and stakeholders
  • Indepth knowledge and experience with SAP FI /CO COPA modules


 Preferred:_
  • Background in Financial Accounting/Reporting, Taxation and/or Financial Controlling would be ideal
  • Internal/external audit experience and/or SOX is an advantage
  • Experience with Shared Services process activities is preferred
