Overview

The AI & Automation Technical Lead
is a hands-on technical builder responsible for designing, developing, and deploying automation solutions that drive operational efficiency.

This position focuses on the technical execution of automation projects - translating business requirements into working solutions that integrate our cloud-based SaaS applications and eliminate repetitive manual tasks. You'll be building robust, scalable workflows using our orchestration, automation, and AI platforms to free up resources for more complex, high-impact initiatives.

Responsibilities

Solution Design & Development:

• Design, develop, and implement well-architected, scalable, and secure automation workflows based on business requirements.
• Build solutions that are effective, maintainable and reusable, contributing to a growing library of components.
• Develop, test, and document automation solutions, workflows (including low/no-code and scripting/coding as needed), and platform integrations according to standards and practices.

Technical Implementation & Integration:

• Build and deploy automation solutions leveraging our automation platforms (Workato, RelevanceAI etc.) and AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, NotebookLM, Gemini etc.).
• Create API integrations connecting cloud-based SaaS applications to streamline business processes.
• Develop custom scripts and transformations to handle complex logic within automation workflows.

Quality & Maintenance:

• Test and debug automation workflows to ensure reliability and performance.
• Maintain and update existing automations as business needs and platforms evolve.
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and architectural standards.

Knowledge Sharing:

• Document technical implementations, integration patterns, and reusable components.
• Share technical expertise and best practices with team members working on automation projects.
• Participate in technical communities of practice around automation tools and workflows.
• Be happy to coach, mentor and train less senior colleagues.

Knowledge and Experience

• Preferred experience designing and delivering solutions on an enterprise automation and/or integration platform (iPaaS), such as Workato, , MuleSoft, Boomi or similar.
• Experience using and configuring various AI tools such as agents, skills, MCP servers and custom GPTs etc.
• Demonstrated expertise in API-led integration, with a strong command of REST principles, webhooks, and modern data interchange formats (JSON, XML etc.) to build robust and scalable connections between SaaS platforms.
• Proficiency in modern integration patterns and technologies, with hands-on experience in API security standards such as OAuth 2.0, and familiarity with platforms and protocols like iPaaS, GraphQL, and event-driven architecture.
• Hands-on expertise with API development and testing tools (e.g., Postman, Insomnia) to design, debug, and validate complex integration workflows.
• Competence in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and/or backend language (e.g., Ruby) to handle custom logic and transformations.
• Previous experience working within a federated or "citizen developer" model.
• Working knowledge of cloud technology platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong English communication skills (both verbal & written), especially in the global software development environment.
