Role Summary

Bao Lan Textiles is hiring a market developer to
build and relationships across the textile supply chain
—from fiber producers and spinners to mills, converters, and global brands/retailers. You will
open new routes to market and sell our materials
into yarn spinners and brand raw‑material teams, grow revenue, and accelerate adoption of our products in commercial programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market development & mapping,
    Identify and prioritize target partners across
    fiber → spinning → knitting/weaving → dyeing/finishing → garment → brand/retail
    .
  • Build partner lists by region (e.g.,
    China, India, SEA, Turkey, EU, US
    ) and by material category (e.g.,
    polyester/nylon/viscose/cotton blends, recycled & bio‑based
    ).
  • Recruit and qualify spinners/mills; execute NDAs/MOUs; align on
    MOQ, lead times, quality specs, pricing,..
  • Develop and close opportunities with
    spinners
    (sell-in) and
    brand RM/Materials teams
    (spec-in / nominate).
  • Own pipeline, forecasting, and
    quota
    ; drive
    sample → trial → order
    conversion; manage price lists and margin.
  • Negotiate commercial terms (payment, credit, rebates, exclusivities) with support from Finance & Legal.
  • Program creation & specification.
    Work with brands to
    nominate
    materials into BOMs; support
    lab dips, TDS/MSDS
    , wear and wash testing, and approvals.
  • Coordinate sampling with spinners/mills; track trials and performance data to de‑risk scale‑up.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration.
    Feed market intelligence to Product/R&D on cost/quality/performance; support demand planning and inventory.
  • Maintain clean CRM data (e.g.,
    Salesforce/HubSpot
    ) and deliver weekly pipeline/forecast reports.
  • Represent Bao Lan Textiles at
    trade shows and customer visits
    ; prepare sell‑in decks, tech sheets, case studies.
  • Risk & quality management.
    scalate and resolve claims (shade, handfeel, pilling, shrinkage); drive
    on‑time delivery and first‑pass yield
    .

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years
    in textile materials, yarn, or fabric
    business development/sales
    ; strong network with
    spinners, mills, and brands
    .
  • Solid understanding of
    spinning (ring/open‑end), knitting/weaving, dyeing/finishing
    , and testing (
    AATCC/ISO/ASTM
    basics).
  • Experience selling or specifying
    fibers/yarns/functional finishes
    (recycled, dope‑dyed, bio‑based, moisture‑management, anti‑microbial, etc.).
  • Familiar with
    sustainability and chain‑of‑custody
    certifications (GRS/RCS/OCS/GOTS, OEKO‑TEX, Higg/LCAs a plus).
  • Proficient with
    CRM
    and
    Excel/Sheets
    ; strong presentation skills for technical and executive audiences.
  • Languages:
    English, Mandarin or Japanese preferred.
  • Willing to travel
    30–50%
    (domestic/international).
