Main Responsibilities
1. Market Understanding & Strategy Development (30%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, providing them with insights and guidance on the local market.
- Have good market understanding on the F&B landscape, opportunity and challenges, including competitor analysis, consumer trends, pricing strategies, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive and actionable Market Development Strategy, specifically focusing on establishing a robust distribution network (e.g., Retail, Horeca, E-commerce…).
- Define the ideal distribution partner(s) profile based on their network, category experience, financial stability, and logistical capabilities.
- Be able to set up a basic sales forecast or financial schema to help client budget for the first 1-3 years of cooperation with a local distributor.
2. Distributor Search & Partnership (50%)
- Prospect, qualify, and approach potential distributors and partners across Vietnam/ASEAN who are a strong strategic fit for the client.
- Support client in commercial negotiations with local partners, including distribution terms and agreements (pricing, margin, exclusivity, payment terms, minimum order quantities…).
- Manage the full onboarding process for selected distributors, ensuring alignment of operational procedures, logistics, and sales targets.
- Identify and initiate relevant ideas, initiatives, opportunities that can generate directly or indirectly revenue, brand recognition or potential growth for the client in the existing sales areas or possibly further expansion.
- Develop and animate a wide and trustful relationships with local partners and distribution network, fostering long-term collaboration and aiming for mutual benefits.
3. Local Sales representation & Sales Performance Management (20%)
- Act as the primary local representative for the foreign company, presenting the product/service value proposition and brand vision to prospective partners.
- Collaborate, on behalf of the client, with the new distributor(s) to establish localized sales and marketing plans.
- Conduct regular business reviews with partners, monitoring performance against agreed-upon KPIs (sales volume/pipeline, market coverage, inventory levels…), and report to the client with sales performance, and strategic recommendations.
- Provide timely local market status (insights, trends, risks, opportunities…) to the client, as well as update the local distributor's sales team with new product knowledge and brand messaging from the client.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Trade, or a related field.
- Proven track record of 3+ years in Business Development/B2B Sales or Sales/Channel Management within the Vietnam F&B or FMCG sector.
- Experience with new market entry or foreign brand launch is highly desirable.
- Established professional network and demonstrable success in identifying, negotiating with, and managing distribution partners.
- Good understanding of F&B/FMCG sector and the distribution channels as well as consumer behavior.
- Professional proficiency in English (both written and verbal) are essential for communication with local partners and the foreign principal. Knowing French is a plus.
- Strong negotiation skills, strategic thinking, independent and self-driven, excellent presentation and communication skills. Knowledge in financial management and sales forecast is appreciated.
- Willingness to travel within Vietnam and ASEAN to meet with prospective and current partners.
