Our client is a highly recognized and well-established leader in the e-commerce sector, currently seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to guide the next stage of their technology and business growth. Below is an overview of the key responsibilities and expectations for this role:

Accountabilities

  • Develop, motivate, and retain a high-performing technology organization (with a core presence in Vietnam) supported by strong engagement and trust metrics.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, clarity, and accountability where engineers and leaders feel empowered to deliver impactful results quickly.
  • Establish and champion the Company's long-term technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the ELT and board.
  • Set the path toward becoming the leading online destination for cards. Deliver meaningful technical innovation while sequencing initiatives to support company goals.
  • Oversee the Company's technical architecture to ensure stability, performance, and availability across all systems.
  • Continuously assess architectural decisions to strike the right balance among innovation, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Create and refine digital experiences that are fast, seamless, and delightful for customers.
  • Drive ongoing improvements in site performance, functionality, and user experience to support growth, conversion, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain data platforms and reporting that elevate the most critical insights, enabling teams to quickly understand business performance and make informed decisions in real time.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance across regions.
  • Strengthen and evolve IT operations and internal technology systems to ensure teams can work efficiently, securely, and without friction.

Ideal profile:

  • Deep experience leading technology organizations at the CTO, SVP, or VP Engineering level, successfully guiding company growth to $100M+ in revenue.
  • Brings a strong blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution, consistently aligning technology initiatives with core business objectives.
  • Deep knowledge of modern engineering stacks and architectures, ideally with exposure to Shopify ecosystems and microservices-based platforms.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies—such as generative AI—to drive significant improvements in customer experience and unit economics.
  • A track record of leading, developing, and motivating global engineering teams.
  • Skilled in hiring top-tier talent, fostering team growth, and serving as a key contributor within a high-performing executive leadership team.
  • Experience with globally distributed teams is especially valuable.
  • Direct experience overseeing data, IT, and security organizations, ensuring robust governance, reliability, and risk management.
