Head of Humanities

British International School Hanoi is looking to appoint a Head of Humanities, to join our talented and dedicated team of educators from August 2026.

The Humanities department places great emphasis on providing high-quality, relevant, and inclusive teaching within our subjects and carefully considers the needs of individual students. We pride ourselves on constantly reflecting, adapting, and improving our provision so it can be the best it can be. The Head of Humanities is responsible for educational provision in Geography, History, Environmental Systems and Societies, Global Citizenship, and Global Perspectives.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of teaching Cambridge IGCSE Geography and/or History, with experience in the International Baccalaureate Programme desirable but not essential.

We are seeking an inspirational leader who combines strategic vision with a passion for developing classroom practice. You will provide clear direction across the Humanities team, fostering professional growth, innovation in teaching and learning, and consistency in high-quality assessment and feedback. As part of our Nord Anglia global family, you will collaborate with colleagues across our international network to develop a Humanities curriculum that inspires curiosity, reflection, and global awareness.

The successful candidate will be committed to growing others, leading with integrity, and developing an ambitious and creative curriculum that motivates students from Key Stage 3 through IGCSE, IBDP, and beyond.

Purpose of the Role:

• To lead and provide day-to-day management and organisation of the Humanities department
• As a key middle leader, assist in developing long-term strategies to raise standards in the subject and the school generally.
• Foster a culture of high performance within the team, with learning and student well-being as central foci.
• Encourage a culture of collaboration, risk-taking, and support within the team, and promote a shared vision.
• Lead the ongoing development of the curriculum, teaching and learning standards, and departmental resources.
