Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Category Specialist in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Category Specialist will be responsible for developing and managing category strategies, analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities, negotiating contracts, and ensuring effective procurement processes. The role requires regular communication with internal and external stakeholders to meet organizational objectives and goals.

  1. Supplier Management

  2. Build and develop strategic partnerships with current and potential suppliers.

  3. Proactively search, evaluate, and expand supplier portfolio to diversify sourcing and optimize pricing and commercial terms.
  4. Negotiate and execute Trading Terms, Rebates, and Joint Business Plans (JBP) to ensure optimal business outcomes.
  5. Implement and monitor JBP performance and propose improvements when needed.
  6. Collaborate cross-functionally (Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance) to execute joint business and brand activation plans.

2. Category Management

  • Manage assigned product categories, ensuring sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, and category contribution targets are met.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, pricing strategies, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and execute promotional programs and rebate schemes to drive sales and optimize profitability.
  • Ensure product information, pricing, and images are accurately updated and maintained in the system.
  • Recommend new products and delist underperforming SKUs based on data insights and market performance.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance) to ensure seamless buying and category management processes.
  • Work closely with IT/ERP team to maintain accurate product, pricing, and policy data in the system.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to supplier and category management to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and propose business improvement solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and category management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a results-driven mindset.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
