Regulatory Affairs Specialist (Food)

Role Purpose:
The role of Regulatory Affairs is to grow Food BU's competitiveness through assures compliance, creates external space for innovation and Advocacy on new regulations.

The job holder provides regulatory support and guidance for the innovation projects of Foods categories in Vietnam, maintaining regulatory compliance of current Foods products on the market and inform the business on any upcoming regulatory changes.

Main responsibilities:

Innovation:

Knowledge of Vietnam food products regulations to guide new developments:

  • Provides local regulatory input to the innovation projects related its formulation or ingredients used, packaging, product safety/ standards and labeling requirements.
  • Provides claim assessment, assessing level of risks, proposing mitigation actions thru Local Claims Forum (LCF).
  • Collaborating with R&D, Legal, Marketing and QA to obtain if needed support for challenges

Compliance:

Maintain continuous regulatory compliance of Vietnam food portfolio

  • Facilitate product registrations and government certifications for innovations, understanding specific market requirements set by VFDA.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation to support the registration process
  • Collaborate with Legal, NPD, and other teams to ensure alignment on compliance matters
  • Support QA for FDA audit on products regulatory questions.
  • Issue management: ensure regulatory support in case of product regulatory issues
  • Communicating and updating the information on new regulation to all stakeholders in Vietnam.

Advocacy:

Participate in shaping future regulatory space

  • Collaborate with NPD (R&D), Legal, External Affairs, and other key functions to define consistent, aligned views and positions
  • Manage if needed key contacts with Authorities on priority regulatory topics for the business

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of regulatory affairs experience in foods and beverages.
  • Degree in relevant subjects (Food Scientist/Food Technologist, relevant scientistific field)
  • Mandatory to have an experience on Local regulatory affairs and preferable she/he also have experience working in product registrations, government certifications and claims.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment, both face-to-face and virtually
  • English language and digital skills
