**ABOUT THE ROLE**

We are looking for an early-career Data Engineer to join our growing team to fight climate change.

As the data team, we strive to design and build data products and systems that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable. Some of the traits that we promote within the team are ownership, curiosity, transparency, and a strong writing culture. As an early team member, you will be expected to help shape our product direction and to strengthen the team’s culture.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, data analysts and scientists as well as sustainability experts to ship products and processes that create value and solve problems for Unravel Carbon and our customers.

**WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON**
- Build our proprietary Carbon Database which powers the engine for emissions estimates.
- Design and implement data pipelines to collect, process and store data from various sources.
- Develop and maintain data warehouses, and other data storage systems such as S3.
- Develop and maintain data quality checks and monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to provide clean and structured data in systems that serve internal stakeholders as well as Unravel Carbon’s customers.
- Work with stakeholders to identify data requirements and design solutions to meet those needs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering technologies and tools.

**ABOUT YOU**
- You have 1-3 years of experience in data engineering/software engineering roles or are a new graduate with extensive internship experience in these roles.
- You have driven high business impact and shipped data engineering solutions to production.
- You are able to own the entire lifecycle of a data engineering project like an ETL pipeline. You don’t need to be an expert on every aspect of it, but you must be a quick learner to pick things up and go deep when needed.
- You have strong programming skills in Python.
- You have an extensive background in using data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Prefect.
- You are proficient in SQL and database management systems (we use Snowflake).
- You have experience with data modelling and schema design.
- You understand data governance and security principles.
- You possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- You have displayed strong communication and collaboration skills across functions.
- You use solid engineering practices and write maintainable code.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- You enjoy mentoring others where you can.

Bonus points if
- You are familiar with cloud computing platforms like AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
- You have worked with MongoDB (or other non-relational databases).
- You have a background in deploying and maintaining data tools.
- You have designed and maintained a data tech stack.
