**The Engineering Manager, in partnership with the Staff Engineer, leads people, delivery, and process improvements across the teams under their remit. The Engineering Manager is responsible for building a high-performing team and ensuring that they are enabled to succeed. They are a custodian of staff development and morale while ensuring that the teams are resourced and delivering for our customers. They will be coaching and mentoring all team members. They are a guide for reports on their career journeys as well as aligning expectations, maintaining morale, and facilitating one-on-ones all while providing positive and constructive feedback.

This role leads their team to deliver against commitments and facilitates the delivery of initiatives and roadmaps across the teams. They will coordinate to accomplish collaborative goals and identify bottlenecks and roadblocks and endeavor to help clear them. They ensure team resources are balanced and there is the capacity to deliver against commitments.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading customer and operational escalation responses and will ensure the team is aware of and aligned with customer commitments. They will work with squad leads to ensure PIRs are completed for all customer outage events. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with the Staff Engineer to continuously improve and promote engineering best practices including observability, test automation, small pull requests, CI/CD, and lean-agile methodologies. In addition, the Engineering Manager will drive the collection, visibility, and improvement of Engineering metrics related to team efficiency and quality.

**Responsibilities**:
**People Leadership**
- Helps their staff to overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete work tasks.
- Care genuinely for the health and well-being of their staff.
- Mentors/coaches direct reports in an open, respectful, flexible, and empathetic manner.
- Provides positive and constructive feedback to direct reports in a timely manner.
- In collaboration with the Staff Engineer, sets Career Development Plans and goals for the team.
- Works with reports to achieve goals on team Career Development Plans.
- Holding regular (weekly or bi-weekly) 1 on 1’s with your direct reports.
- Approve leave, ensuring adequate resourcing.
- Provide clarity around the processes and policies of Skedulo for their staff.
- Participates in the performance management process where required, especially around how staff demonstrate Skedulo values and meet the performance expectations of their role
- Communicate within your team in an effective, clear, concise manner in both written and verbal form.
- Share relevant information from senior leaders and executives to their staff.
- Recruit and retain high-performing engineers.

**Delivery**
- Accountable for engineering team performance and delivery of projects
- Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate product delivery
- Create connections with other teams to ensure alignment across engineering.
- Ensure strong communication between squads by facilitating the exchange of information.
- Provide goals for the team that inspire but don’t overburden.
- Coordinate incident responses and ensure PIRs and associated follow-up activities are completed for customer escalations.
- Lead escalation responses and work across the organization and directly with our customers (when required) to resolve customer issues.
- Facilitate the development and delivery of OKRs.

**Process Improvement**
- Drive initiatives across the teams to continuously improve the quality, security, observability, availability, and performance of the Skedulo product suite.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Must have at least 4+ years in a leadership/coaching role.
- Must have at least 2+ years working with agile development methodologies.
- Must have at least 4+ years of commercial experience in a Professional Services or SaaS company.
