We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as an **Tax Compliance Manager (GCB6)**

**Principal Accountabilities**

'Be responsible for handling specific VNM’s tax affairs and support VP Tax Compliance to liaise with ASP tax and/or GHQ tax where appropriate, deal with regulators such as local tax authorities, external auditors, seek advice from external consultants.

**Impact on the Business**:

- To prepare tax reporting to ASP tax and/or GHQ tax where appropriate and related tax declaration to local tax authorities;
- To provide reliable tax inputs to VP Tax Compliance for endorsement before submission to VNM’s EXCO and management, ASP reports;
- To update tax checklist of questions which are based on relevant functions’ confirmation with secondary review by external advisor;
- To ensure the periodical review of other functions’ balance of VAT and withholding tax and remind where appropriate;
- To ensure the periodical review for deferred tax accounts and monthly review provision for CIT, operational tax;
- To control all tax charges where appropriate and to provide periodical reconciliation, analysis and commentary for the tax charges;
- To coordinate the implementation of new tax regulations/procedures and consistent adherence with existing tax regulations/procedures.

**Customers / Stakeholders**:

- To support VP Tax compliance to provide in-house tax advice on specific business proposals to VNM/ASP/Group;
- To support VP Tax Compliance on providing VNM executives and ASP Tax for any significant update in the tax law and providing information which probably helps maximize economic return to the Group;
- To retain and develop relationship with tax authorities and to build the image of HSBC’s good and responsible tax-payer before the tax authorities;
- To support VP Tax Compliance in providing tax updates/digests to ALCO / ASP Tax.

**Leadership & Teamwork**:

- Co-ordinate and maintain a good team spirit;
- Contribute to develop tax team.

**Operational Effectiveness & Control**:

- To ensure all relevant tax laws complied;
- To ensure an effective Operation management process in place;
- To identify and mitigate the potential risk of future losses to the bank;
- For transactional and operational taxes, preparing and reviewing the process flows, identifying and documenting tax risks and controls, testing of controls over operational/transactional taxes, conducting tax walkthrough test, recommending corrective measures, coordinating the implementation of practical measures and solutions to improve compliance and efficiency consistent with Group policy and overseeing compliance;
- To continually monitor the operational risk inherent in the business and to be accountable to implement/maintain effective policies and work practices in order to manage operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree holder.
- At least 4 years’ experience in taxation (Tax professional in Big 4 firms is preferred), having experience in banking industry is preferred.
- Good accounting background, good knowledge for all banking businesses, e.g. Global Market products, Card business, etc is preferred.
- Strong analytical skill, highly service-minded, strong interpersonal skill, reliable personality, and negotiation skill.
