The school is currently looking to recruit a:

Speech and Language Therapist/Teacher
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, qualified and experienced Speech and Language Teacher.

A minimum of two years' recent experience practising as a Speech and Language Therapist (in either a school or clinical setting) is needed.

All applicants would be required to have a teaching qualification as well as a postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited institution.

You must also be registered with the professional regulating body for the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or another country with a recognised professional registration board for Speech and Language Pathologists.

Experience supporting children with developing receptive language, expressive language, pragmatic language and oral motor skills, is essential.


If you are successful, we will look to you to provide direct support to our students (both individually and in small groups), develop competency in our staff teams and provide guidance to our parents.

From time to time, you may be asked to assess students' receptive and expressive language ability and write reports on your findings.

You will be working within the broader AEN team to foster an environment that is inclusive of our students with learning needs and helping to build a school culture that has a greater awareness of those needs.

Ability to work with all school-aged children is desirable; experience supporting Primary-aged students is essential.

About the Department:


The AEN Department is a whole school team, bringing together the Learning Support (LS) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) departments to provide continuous, collaborative and comprehensive support to all learners.

We support students across all phases of their BIS journey and individual AEN departments work together to support learners with a range of language, learning needs and SEL needs.

We strive to ensure that support is uninterrupted as students transition between year groups and many of our AEN staff members will work with students across phases to provide seamless support.


The support provided by our AEN teams comes in many different forms to accommodate the varied needs of our students.

We offer individual, small group and in-class support depending on the needs of the learner.

Our curriculum is designed to foster the development of language and learning skills to allow students to more effectively integrate into their mainstream lessons.

It is organised to suit the age and ability of our students, while providing an appropriate level of challenge.

In addition to supporting learning and language skills, the Learning Support teams also provide assistance for students' social and emotional learning needs.


Our mission and vision is rooted in a firm belief that every student at BIS is entitled to the support they need.

However, that support is not the responsibility of one individual or department and we work very closely with our teachers, TAs, school leadership and parents in the delivery of any support provision.
