Established in 2004 in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, APU American International School assists students aspiring to higher education in the US.

The international school operates with the motto "Pathway to US Education" APU American International School offers opportunities to students keen on getting admitted to universities in the US and abroad.


History teacher leads students in the study of past events in both the United States and around the world, following the middle school and high school standardized curriculum.

Teaching a wide range of topics from recent events to ancient history, the history teacher encourages students to view the world from multiple perspectives and to become informed citizens.

Teacher facilitates learning by providing stimulating discussions, readings, and projects, helps students comprehend and process the significance of difficult social and political issues.

The teacher must keep abreast of current events/movements and using these themes to keep historical content relevant.


Working language at APU is 100% English, all teaching sessions and study related activities must be conducted with professional English language.


Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the World History Teacher are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Analyzing all prescribed texts and resources to develop quality lesson plans and curricula.
  • Organizing lesson plans in line with curriculum standards, deliver lectures,
  • Delivering engaging History lessons on different time periods, movements, and other historical events and figures.
  • Ensuring all curriculum meet all requirements of the Common Core Curriculum.
  • Grading exams, tests, quizzes, assignments, and presentations, and contacting parents and other faculty members to discuss concerns and schedule interventions.
  • Keeping abreast of current events/movements and using these themes to keep historical content relevant.
  • Providing extra support to struggling students and additional resources to those who display exceptional interest in History.
  • Using digital technology to improve learning and keep accurate student records.
  • Constantly expanding educational networks and participating in workshops, lectures, and other learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to the extracurricular activities of the school.
  • Work with debate teams or other clubs related to their expertise.

Required Qualifications, Experiences and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in history education, or a similar discipline from a US or European university; a master's degree is preferable;
  • A relevant certification or license for teaching is required;
  • Be familiar with the US highschool education, especially Common Core Curriculum;
  • Excellent in professional, academic and communicational English, English as mother tongue is preferred;
  • A passion for history and the ability to inspire students;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to engage with young people and develop lesson plans that resonate with them;
  • Compassion and a personable manner;
  • Resilience and the ability to work with students from multiple backgrounds.
