Position Definition (Key Purpose of the Position):

  • Oversee all technical development and engineering from receipt of design through development process and confirmation sample.
  • Realizes all development and engineering concepts and technologies to fully functioning performance samples, tests and proves their mass manufacturability.
  • Manage and coach a team of development and production tooling engineers, both in country and in overseas locations. Proactively provides solutions to any problems and offers alternative options throughout the whole creation and production process.
  • This role is responsible for managing the strategic relationship with Company footwear factories in the assigned sourcing cluster by focusing on adherence to quality standards, on time performance, automation and manufacturing efficiency while ensuring compliance with Company Responsible Sourcing principles.
  • Contribute to the creation of the yearly business strategy and effectively cascade and translate it into actionable work plans for the team of managers and associates in the nominated factory cluster.
  • Coach and develop the team providing quarterly timely constructive feedback and guidance. Optimize talent through deep understanding on strengths of his/her assigned team providing guidance on their growth and career development and actively seeking for internal movement opportunities.
  • Promoting internal and external communication within assigned team and crossfunctional departments to execute the buys in mass production, leading the resolution of problems during WIP process to achieve ontime delivery performance.
  • Key Result Areas:
  • Employs product creations processes, technology and tools with component and mold manufactures that support development, commercialization, and production timelines without compromising quality.
  • Mentors team to instill needed discipline in factory Product teams as well as T1 and T2 suppliers.
  • Leads Product teams to ensure adherence to calendar deadlines.
  • Provides regular and accurate tracking reports to all divisions. Provides early warnings of potential issues and delays.
  • Leads team to provide SOP process documentation for the successful manufacture of all products.
  • Participate in the creation and/or evolution of existing and/or new processes and strategic projects executing it with the assigned team and factory cluster.
  • Supervise and evaluate the competencies of team members under his/her structure on a regular basis and provides prompt personalized feedback to managers and guidance to drive high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with Global Supply Planning team leader to validate product allocation, factory capacity booking and production plans to ensure that they are viable and realistic.
  • Oversee preproduction and production related activities within his/her assigned factory cluster to ensure adherence to SOP and that "ontime performance" obligations are being met.
  • Product Development / Commercialization:
  • Advanced knowledge of the product creation process from design brief through T2 completion.
  • Ability to lead a team through the stages including prototype, line confirmation, SMS, confirmation samples, and T1 and T2 process. Adhere to all industry standards and meet all product performance expectations.
  • Mentor and coach a team to trouble shoot and solve engineering and technical issues relating to fit tests, mold making, grading, while also advancing Industrial Engineering and lean principles.
  • Meet or exceed stage gates and milestones according to the product creation calendar, prioritizing SMS delivery and meeting buy ready targets to hit initial production delivery dates.
  • Partner with Hong Kong Product
  • Operations, Global Material Supply, Costing, Global Supply Planning, and Quality Management to achieve One Company Strategic goals.
  • Preproduction:
  • Lead the team to evaluate construction complexity against factory capacity and capability, provide suggestions to maximize factory efficiency and delivery continued performance
  • Review and identify potential Preproduction or production issues and provide viable options or solutions to solve these problems. Communicate technical issues to the Brand, suggesting possible solutions which may require their approval.
  • Lead the creation and/or evolution of operation processes that facilitate integration of lean and automation throughout the factory cluster to achieve consistent quality, efficiency and cost targets. Connect with engineer and lean team to identify potential cost savings and efficiency gains.
  • Production:
  • Balance workflow and workload of the locationbased team for the production related activities to ensure adherence SOP's, and "on time performance" obligations are being met.
  • Liaise with Company QA to ensure that production footwear Company footwear quality standards
  • Nurture a close working relationship/partnership with Company vendors management deliver
