Head of Production

We're Hiring: Head of Production

Location: J. Wagner Vietnam

Reports To: Deputy General

This is a key role where you will act
to lead and manage all mechanical fabrication activities, ensuring high efficiency, quality, and cost optimization. This role is critical in driving production excellence across steel structure fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly, while fostering a strong culture of safety, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management & Planning

• Develop short, medium, and long-term production plans aligned with sales demand and operational capacity.
• Optimize labor, raw material, and overhead costs while maintaining product quality.
• Monitor and improve key KPIs such as cost per unit, yield, downtime, and scrap rate.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish efficient production and quality management processes.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve workflows, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.

People Management & Team Development

• Plan workforce requirements and allocate teams according to project needs.
• Ensure ongoing training in welding, machining, equipment handling, and safety standards.
• Conduct performance evaluations and drive continuous skill development.
• Foster a disciplined, collaborative, and high-performance work culture.

Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Implement and maintain ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental standards (including ISO
• Oversee quality inspections throughout machining, welding, finishing, and assembly stages.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and enhance production reliability.
• Prepare regular performance and operational reports for senior management.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field.

Experience

• 15–20 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Proven track record in leading large production teams and optimizing fabrication processes.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, AWS welding standards, ASME, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing.

Technical & Leadership Skills

• Strong leadership and decision-making skills in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CNC, welding, laser/plasma cutting, surface treatment, and assembly processes.
• Solid understanding of production planning, inventory control, and cost management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/SAP is an advantage.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
