Role Overview

The Vietnam R&D Lead serves as a strategic business partner within the Country Leadership Team, responsible for driving innovation, product excellence, and business growth through research and development initiatives.

This position plays a critical role in aligning global innovation priorities with local market needs and ensuring that products meet the aspirations of Vietnamese consumers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Consumer-Centric Product Development

  2. Define and execute an innovation roadmap that addresses local consumer needs and preferences.

  3. Collaborate with Global Design Centers to introduce breakthrough innovations, while also developing localized renovation and range-extension solutions for the market.

  4. Business Profitability & Growth

  5. Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance teams to implement end-to-end initiatives that improve cost efficiency and overall business profitability.

  6. Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure R&D supports the company's long-term growth agenda.

  7. Product Superiority & Market Competitiveness

  8. Establish and execute a clear plan to ensure product superiority against key market benchmarks.

  9. Monitor competitor activities and industry developments to identify innovation opportunities.

  10. Sustainability, Safety & Compliance

  11. Develop forward-looking strategies to ensure regulatory compliance, product safety, and sustainability standards.

  12. Act as R&D representative in managing regulatory issues, industry engagement, and advocacy efforts.

  13. Leadership & Team Development

  14. Lead, coach, and develop R&D team members to maximize their potential and enhance business impact.

  15. Foster a culture of well-being, collaboration, and high performance within the Vietnam R&D team.

  16. Digital Transformation & Innovation Enablement

  17. Champion a "Digital First" mindset to enhance efficiency and unlock organizational capacity.

  18. Promote digital tools, data-driven insights, and new technologies across R&D processes.
  19. Main Accountabilities
  20. Represent the consumer's voice in the Country Leadership Team and ensure strong connections with design and marketing teams.
  21. Own and deliver all R&D components of the brand innovation pipeline, cost-saving, and simplification programs in collaboration with Marketing and Supply Chain.
  22. Support quality management and resolve consumer-related issues linked to product design.
  23. Build deep understanding of market channels and identify growth opportunities aligned with the "Social First" strategy.
  24. Oversee both internal R&D operations and external technical partnerships to ensure high-quality project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in R&D leadership, preferably within FMCG/CPG industries.
  • International exposure and cross-functional collaboration experience are strong advantages.
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects and teams to deliver high-quality results with speed and agility.
