Entobel is a fast-growing agri-biotech company specializing in Black Soldier Fly (BSF) production for sustainable protein and high-value ingredients. Our Genetics team is building the next generation of BSF lines to improve performance, robustness, and value for our customers.

We are looking for a Genetics Operations Executive to join the Genetics team and be the "on-the-ground" driver of our genetics trials and routine breeding activities.


Role Overview
You will be responsible for executing day-to-day genetics operations at the insect production site. This includes setting up and monitoring cages and crates, coordinating with the production/operations team, and making sure all genetics trials and breeding activities run smoothly, safely, and according to SOPs.

This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field, is organized, and pays close attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities
1. Trial & Breeding Execution

Set up and monitor mating cages, egg collections, nursery batches and rearing crates according to genetics SOPs.

Coordinate daily activities with the production/operations team to ensure correct timing of feed, transfers, and harvests for genetics families and lines.

Label, track, and handle BSF material (eggs, larvae, pupae, adults) so that family IDs and line IDs are never mixed.

  1. Data & Sample Handling

Support accurate recording of key field data (e.g., counts, weights, survival, feed input/output) in standardized templates.

Collect and prepare biological samples (e.g., larvae/pupae for genetics, QC or lab analysis) following instructions and SOPs.

Liaise with the Genetics Data/Analysis team to ensure data is captured clearly and on time.

  1. SOP Compliance & Quality

Follow all SOPs, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures in genetics areas.

Report deviations, issues or abnormal observations (e.g., performance drops, disease signs, equipment problems) promptly.

Contribute feedback to improve SOPs and work instructions for breeding and trials.

  1. Cross-functional Coordination

Work closely with Production, R&D, and Genetics staff to align daily plans and resource needs (space, crates, cages, feed, manpower).

Participate in brief daily or weekly check-ins to review trial progress and upcoming tasks.


Qualifications
Must-have:

College/University degree in Animal Science, Aquaculture, Biology, Agriculture, or related field; or strong relevant hands-on experience in farming/production.

1–3 years of experience in farm operations, hatchery, aquaculture, poultry, livestock, or insect production (fresh graduates with strong motivation will also be considered).

Comfortable with hands-on work in a production/warehouse/farming environment.

Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to follow written SOPs step by step.

Basic Excel/Google Sheets skills for recording and checking data.

Willingness to work mostly on-site, in operational conditions (e.g., warm, humid, production environment).

Nice-to-have:

Experience with breeding programs, trials, or R&D experiments.

Prior experience in insect rearing (BSF or others) is a plus.

Basic understanding of genetics / selective breeding is an advantage, but not mandatory (training will be provided).
