About Your Role
As an Apparel Engineer, you will partner with brand developers, sourcing teams, and vendors to drive product industrialization through both physical and virtual sampling across all development stages—including innovation and concept. You will ensure that products meet brand standards for safety, fit, functionality, performance, quality, and cost, while applying risk management principles.
You will bridge the gap between development and production by managing the handover process, ensuring technical specifications are accurate and complete, and resolving pre-production risks. You will also independently manage all pre-production and re-allocation sample approvals locally and support brand trips and innovation initiatives.
Your Responsibilities Will Include (but not limited to):
- Provide technical expertise and support to cross-functional teams, vendors, and brands.
- Manage product issues proactively with stakeholders.
- Support product innovation trials and complex collaborations.
- Partner with brands on construction, sizing, grading, and block projects.
- Validate patterns and samples before brand submission; approve patterns ahead of sample making.
- Review virtual and physical samples (Proto, SMS, POC, PPS, Counter, Size Set), provide comments, and update systems.
- Partner with brands on construction toolboxes, manuals, and SOP updates.
- Manage and track Tech Pack discrepancies; update systems as needed.
- Prepare for and support brand trips (Development, CKO, Innovation, Collabs, Fit Training).
- Allocate risk to all orders and focus on high-risk styles per RBM guidance.
- Participate in Tech Pack handover meetings and manage handover from development to production.
- Manage rain room testing and follow-up for Futurelight, Goretex, GB, and other tests.
- Independently manage pre-production and re-allocation sample approvals.
- Onboard new vendors and brands; support capability growth of existing vendors.
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization through training and calibration.
- Support TVCP and RBM programs globally, including training and module input.
- Attend Pre-Production and RAM meetings as required.
- Travel frequently to factories and engage in continuous learning and projects.
What We Will Be Looking For in You
Competencies:
- Growth mindset, process-oriented, and collaborative.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Technical mentorship and solution-oriented thinking.
- High sense of urgency and calendar discipline.
- Motivated to develop through feedback and learning agility.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of product development through production.
- Proficient in pattern making (flat and draping), sizing, and grading.
- Experience with Gerber, PLM (e.g., Flex), 3D (e.g., Browzwear), Adobe Illustrator.
- Skilled in live model and body form fitting.
- Knowledge of garment construction, raw materials, wet processing, testing, and manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret design intent and propose alternatives.
Other Requirements:
- Individual contributor with ability to work independently and proactively.
