Senior Legal Counsel

Ninety Eight is looking for a
Legal Counsel (Senior - Lead)
to join our team, someone who can provide sound legal guidance across our product portfolio, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and help navigate the evolving landscape of blockchain and digital assets.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide legal advice and risk assessment on corporate, commercial, and product-related matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of corporate, commercial, and investment agreements with investors, investees, exchanges, liquidity providers, vendors, suppliers, and employees.
• Advise on regulatory and compliance issues, especially those related to fintech, blockchain, or digital assets.
• Provide legal counsel to leadership and business teams to support growth products while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Work closely with external counsel in multiple countries on corporate structuring, AML/CFT, KYC processes, and cross-border regulatory issues, when necessary.
• Develop and maintain internal legal policies, governance codes, guidelines, templates, and best practices.
• Handle corporate governance matters, including board resolutions, and corporate filings.
• Manage company's intellectual property portfolio and protection strategies. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on compliance, IP, and data privacy.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Having Bachelor's in Law; and being a qualified lawyer is a privilege.
• 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in-house at a tech or outsourcing company.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex, fast-evolving issues.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills in English.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and cross-functional startup environment.
• Ability to mentor and guide junior legal or compliance team members, supporting their growth and ensuring consistency in legal practice across the team.
• Enthusiasm for learning.
• Experience in blockchain, Web3, or fintech regulations is a big plus.
