Senior 2D Game Artist

I. KEY JOB DUTIES

Art Direction (20%):

• Define overall art direction (style, color, tone & mood).
• Stay abreast of industry trends, themes, and new artistic styles.
• Provide visual direction for the product to meet market demands.
• Provide feedback & coaching for the art team (2D/3D/Animator).
• Collaborate with Game Designers/Producers to balance art & gameplay.

2D Game artist (60%):

• Designing with the user experience in mind.
• Adhering to the production schedule.
• Curating and cataloging the asset library of the team.
• Sketching concept designs and key elements of the visual style.
• Design game logo, banner, poster, store kit, and end card with various sizes.
• Design game concept, game screens with art assets, optimize size, and import into Unity.
• Brainstorm with the team and contribute ideas to development.

3d Modeling (20%):

• Working with Game Designer to plan a schedule.
• Be able to use Blender (or other 3d tools) to create simple models.
• Liaising with Dev teams on the scope of modeling import to unity.
• Be able to use Unity or be willing to learn to use Unity for 3d works
• Porting finished art to Unity, ensuring the final art runs to full visual resolution.
• Working within the limits of Unity, curating file sizes, and loading speeds.

II. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES

KNOWLEDGE

• Academic background in Art, Design, or a related field.
• Have domain knowledge in the game development process.
• Strong technical foundation in visual design and user experience (UX).
• In-depth understanding of design principles, visuals, color theory, and user psychology.
• Knowledge of design language: materials, color, space, lighting, depth, movement, etc.
• Solid understanding of concept art and environment design.
  

SKILLS

• 3+ years of experience in the mobile game industry.
• Strong drawing, digital painting, and illustration skills.
• Ability to define and guide the team's art style direction, and to evaluate and give feedback on team members' artworks
• AI adoption mindset: able to apply generative AI tools and maintain a positive, forward-thinking perspective on AI integration in the creative process
• Proficiency with design tools like Photoshop and 3D software like Blender.
• Ability to create simple 3D models.
• Capable of handling all art aspects of a game, from concept, UI/VFX to final optimized assets.
• Intermediate English skills.

Big Plus If You Have

• Solid knowledge of 3D modeling principles and experience with 3D models.
• A strong understanding of UX for mobile games, or a UX-related certification.
• Ability to use Unity for animations & video effects.
• A strong interest in Hyper Casual or Casual games.
• Knowledge of current game genres and trends.
