**About the team**

The Data team within Doctor Anywhere oversees all of the company’s data-related requirements. The goal is to use the data to assist the company in making product/business decisions, and measure its effectiveness. This team works closely with our Product, Engineering, Business to develop a deep understanding of how our products are used and influence the company strategy.

**About the role**

We are seeking a talented **Senior Data Engineer** to design, build, and maintain our robust data platform. In this role, you will be responsible for developing scalable data integration solutions that combine data from various sources including relational databases, NoSQL databases, third-party APIs, and other data sources. This platform serves as the foundation for our data-driven decision-making process, enabling the organization to make faster and more informed business decisions.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including data analysts, product managers, business development managers, finance teams, and other business teams to understand their data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring data reliability, accessibility, and maintaining data governance standards across the organization.

This role reports directly to the **Head of Data**.

**What you’ll do**
- Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable data platform architecture that ensures high availability, fault tolerance, and optimal performance.
- Develop and maintain automated data pipelines to streamline data delivery processes, reducing time-to-insight for stakeholders and increasing operational efficiency.
- Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including functional and unit tests, to ensure data pipeline reliability and data quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process enhancements: automating manual workflows, optimizing data delivery mechanisms, and re-architecting infrastructure for enhanced scalability.
- Architect and implement infrastructure optimized for data extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse data sources, leveraging AWS and GCP cloud technologies and services.
- Develop sophisticated analytics solutions and data products that leverage our data platform to provide actionable business insights, focusing on key metrics such as customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and business performance.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Executive leadership, Engineering, Product, Data, and Design teams to address technical challenges and support their data infrastructure requirements.
- Ensure data security and compliance with privacy regulations and healthcare standards through proper data governance.

**About you**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field with minimum 7 years of experience in Data Engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven expertise in building production-grade data pipelines using GCP and/or AWS services.
- Strong experience with stream processing technologies, particularly Apache Spark or Apache Beam with Google Cloud Dataflow.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Demonstrated experience with Google BigQuery and data warehouse concepts.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining data lakes using Hadoop ecosystem and columnar storage formats (Parquet, ORC).
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
- Proven track record in writing automated tests (unit tests, integration tests) to ensure code reliability.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement maintainable, robust, and flexible code following software engineering best practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
