This position is to plan and implement the learning experiences that advance the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of students within a safe and healthy learning environment.

General Responsibilities:

- To develop the PE syllabuses and lesson plan, use appropriate strategies to provide students’ learning at all levels at school;
- To be in charge of instructing and assessing students;
- Preparing teaching materials for class activities; observing and evaluating students’ performance; and report students’ progress
- Adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Conferring with parents or guardians, teachers and administrators in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic concerns
- Attending faculty meetings, professional development and parent conferences
- Participating in department & school events; and other assigned tasks by School Management;
Interaction with students
- Maintain good teaching-learning rapport with students;
- Model and collaborate to implement good behaviors;
- Understand learners’ profiles and act accordingly;
- Develop knowledge of Physical Health Education (PHE) Curriculum and model during instruction time and when interacting with students

Class management:

- Proactively manage student discipline in alignment with classroom agreement;
- Help to ensure safety in active situations and with equipment setup;
Resources Management:

- Prepare and check for safety all PHE resources, equipment, materials and first aid kits based on the teacher’s teaching plan;
- Maintain inventory and stock control of all equipment and resources;
Commitment to develop SMIS community:

- Provide after school coaching in sports as required;
- Contribute to the enrichment of student life at SMIS, for example in sports, student clubs and/or SMIS community services

Contribution to the SMIS professional development
- Seek feedback, reflect and act upon information received to develop professionally;
- Attend SMIS planned training activities;
- Learn from others and share knowledge with others;
- Maintain First Aid Certification;

Position requirements:
1. Education / qualification

University degree in Education/Physical and Health Education/ Sport or related disciplines plus teaching license

2. Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an international learning environment where English is the primary communication language;
- Cross-cultural exposure and understanding;
3. Technical knowledge
- Subject matter knowledge
- Knowledge of child development
- Knowledge of pedagogy
- Strong computer skills

- Ability to create and maintain an effective learning environment
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with students, faculty, parents and other constituents of the school community

- First Aid Certification will be an advantage
