UNIS Hanoi - Position Description
Position: Middle Years Program (MYP) Physical & Health Teacher (Tentative)
Division: Middle//High School (Grades 6-10)
Reports to: Secondary Principal

Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach Physical and Health Education throughout the UNIS MYP program (Gr. 6-10)
- Provide a differentiated program of instruction that incorporates high expectations for all learners
- Deliver the curriculum within the philosophy of the school, the MYP framework, and a UDL
approach
- Work collaboratively with colleagues both within the PHE Department and the greater school
community
- Assess and report student academic progress in alignment with the UNIS Hanoi philosophy of
assessment and Approaches to Learning (ATLs)
- Share in the overall responsibility for the academic progress, personal development, health and
safety, discipline and well-being of students
- Support the co-curricular program by demonstrating a commitment to coaching
- Provide timely communication to parents
- Attend biweekly meetings with the Grade Level teachers to discuss student concerns, plan
events, discuss test results, etc.
- Pursue professional development and model life-long learning
- Participate in team planning and curriculum development
- Contribute to the UNIS school improvement plan by serving on committees and other shared
decision-making groups
- Become an active member within the UNIS community: advisory, coaching sports, after-school
activities, students clubs, and community service activities
- Participate enthusiastically in morning meetings, house events, and assemblies
- Demonstrate a commitment to work with students in our Service Learning program
- Ability to integrate technology adeptly
- A second teachable is an asset
Position Requirements
- Bachelor degree or above in Kinesiology, Biology or another related field and a degree in
education and/or a teaching license
- MYP or inquiry-based teaching experience; teaching from a concepts-based approach
- Knowledgeable regarding the developmental needs of Middle School and early High School
students
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Technologically able
- Experience teaching in an international school or demonstrated intercultural competence
