The Risk team in Institutional Banking (IB Risk) actively partners with the business to embed and manage ANZ’s risk framework in a way that delivers the division’s strategic objectives.

The Vietnam and Laos Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is responsible for ensuring the financial and reputation integrity of the ANZ Group of businesses through the effective treatment and mitigation of risks (Credit, Market, Non-financial, Technology, Liquidity and Strategic). This role must be a credible and visible Champion for a strong ‘risk culture’ amongst colleagues and peers.

CRO responsibilities include those as leader of the Vietnam & Laos Risk team (performance plans, direct line management, career development), and influencer across the business in Vietnam & Laos and more broadly across the SEAIME Cluster & Asia. As such the CRO will be a key channel of leadership communication, resource planning, problem escalation/resolution, ownership point for the country Risk Appetite Statement and influencing local Country Head support.

Given the changing nature of the global financial markets and global and regional macro economic, geo-political issues, this role will need to remain focused on understanding the changes in the market place and hence the changing risk preferences, and communicating these proactively and clearly to senior management.

What will your day look like

**As the CRO, you are responsible for**:
Building and maintaining a strong professional relationships with the Country Regulators, Audit (internal & external) and relevant stakeholders to support franchise sustainability.

Work in collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders from across different business functions to strengthen risk governance structure and infrastructure.

Addresses key risks effectively to mitigate the financial and reputational risks to the business.

Maintain effective ownership of in-country risk management, credit policies, control frameworks, regulatory compliance processes.

Present portfolio profile and any emerging risks to Divisional RMC as requested.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll ideally bring the following:
Demonstrated experience in corporate and institutional risk and developed knowledge and exposure to Risk & Compliance management frameworks.

Risk mindset - strong understanding of the risk/reward philosophy underpinning sound banking practices

Good communication skills, excellent EQ, decisive. Ability to communicate confidently with a wide variety of people across cultures, geographies, technical segments (legal, middle office, front office, sales, RMs, Credit executives).

Be able to work with mínimal direction, deliver to real-time business demands and able to manage conflicting priorities.

The ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, anchoring your approach in ANZ’s values and leadership behaviours. This includes a reputation for coaching, encouraging curiosity and investing in people development.
