Quality Inspector

**Job Overview**:
McDermott has secured a large offshore oil & gas project in Vietnam. Fabrication of the Jackets and Topsides will be undertaken in Vung Tau by Consortium partner. We are seeking suitable Quality Inspectors to provide the interface with the fabrication team. The position is based in Vung Tau, and for 2 years duration.

The Quality Inspector applies existing knowledge and experience in the inspection discipline to support routine assignments. They will use best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve products or services in the inspection discipline.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Determine product conformity to customer specifications through daily surveillances and ITP inspection points in accordance with the Project Quality Plan
- Identify non-conformity for rectification and ensure final resolution
- Appraise product quality to determine conformity and non-conformity in accordance with the approved drawings and inspection & Test Plan; All inspection results need to be documented, and if non-conformity exists, documentation shall be raised to establish corrective action
- Coordinate interface with Operations, Certifying Authority, Client, Job Sharing personnel, and subcontractor, assuring the conformity to project specifications
- Exercise a proactive approach to the prevention of a problem by interacting with Production, Engineers, and Management personnel
- Liaise with customer representatives, ensuring product conformity and stage release for each activity denoted within the Project Quality Plan/ITP
- Reports to Project QA Manager
- Monitoring fabrication operations ensuring compliance to specifications
- Oversee the construction processes, ensure adherence to construction related procedures, plans and effective stage / final component inspection and release process are adhered
- Identify issues, concerns and escalate those to PQM / Yard QC Manager and follow up for closure
- Liaise with the QC / NDT / Certification Personnel, TPI, CVA and Customer to ensure that Quality problems are addressed
- Ensure timely issuance of quality concerns and / or potential issues to the Project Quality Manager and Dy. Quality Manager
- Coordination between Vendors, PTSC ,MPC for any engineering, quality & installation related issued during execution process
- Attend Yard Meetings
- Coordinate with PMT Team for reporting and addressing Quality issues
- Prepare Daily / Weekly / Monthly reports and send to PMT (Kuala Lumpur) office
- Review and signing of relevant QC documents pertaining to the above activities
- Witnessing welder qualification test, and final visual inspection
- Receiving material Inspection at stores and document review

**Essential Qualifications and Education**:

- Should hold a Mechanical Engineering degree or an approved equivalent and have at least six (6) years’ experience in inspection of engineering installation, of which at least three (3) years attributed to the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Inspectors shall be able to read, write and speak the English language in addition to the local language of the region.
- Inspectors shall be fully conversant with applicable industry standards, specifications, and fabrication methods.
- Inspectors shall be able to read engineering drawings.
- Inspectors shall have knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001: quality system requirements and implementation.
- Inspector shall be certified as an American Welding Society CWI, CSWIP 3.1 Certified Welding Inspector, or approved equivalent.
- Inspector shall have a demonstrated background and thorough knowledge of codes such as ANSI B 31.3, 31.4 and 31.8, ASME Section V and IX, API 620 and 650, AWS D1.1, required for the execution of the Work.
- Inspector shall have ASNT or equivalent Level II in RT,UT,MPT and LPT
- High school diploma or degree in relevant field of study
- 5+ years of Quality Control or discipline-related experience with a degree and 8+ with a diploma
- Proficient in the use of computer and Microsoft programs
