The School

This British Independent School in Vietnam is a not-for-profit school with approx 550 students from Pre-kindergarten to Grade 12. It serves both the international and local community of Hanoi. Although the school was founded in 2013, it partnered with a UK-based Grammar School in 2021, joining a global family with schools in the UK, China and the Middle East.

The school has an experienced international faculty and a delightful group of students of various different nationalities. The school follows the PYP curriculum in Primary, and a strong IGCSE and A-Level programme will accompany the current IBDP programme.

The school's purpose-built facility has well-equipped classrooms, spacious sports areas and two swimming pools. The whole school is surrounded by an impressive Eco Garden to enrich the lives of staff and students.

The school's motto is "to Nurture, to Empower, To Connect" with a vision to inspire students to become active, lifelong learners by providing a challenging, globally relevant curriculum that meets the needs of individual learners. The school's holistic and balanced approach nurtures each student's potential and their inquiring minds. Living and Working in Hanoi

The school is located in a quiet leafy suburb just 20 minutes from Hanoi's fascinating old centre. Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its centuries-old architecture and a rich culture with Southeast Asian, Chinese and French influences. Hanoi is emerging as an elegant, cultured, and affluent city, where museums and galleries coexist with chic shops and fashionable restaurants. One can wander, in a few minutes, from the narrow streets of the Old Quarter to the imposing mansions and buildings lining the leafy boulevards of the former French Quarter. Hanoi's past has also ensured a superb culinary legacy, where French and Chinese cuisines blend marvellously with the Vietnamese traditions.

School Requirements
- The Librarian is required to exercise leadership, demonstrate vision and empower others to deliver the school's vision, mission and strategic plan.
- The Librarian will be responsible and accountable for setting and advancing the strategy and outcomes of the Library in line with the school's strategic plans and direction.
- The Librarian will be an active member of the Secondary Faculty Curriculum Group and contribute to the overall leadership and management of the Faculty; it is expected that Heads of Department, including the Librarian, will carry functional responsibility for specifically agreed cross programme and cross-curricular areas.
- The Librarian will develop and sustain appropriate structures for management, collaboration, consultation, decision-making and communication with staff and students.
- The Librarian will represent the department both internally and externally (through ECAs, meetings, competitions, connections, etc.)
- The Librarian will manage effectively the resources and finances allocated to them under their department.

The Librarian should have:

- a Bachelor and/or Master's degree in Education/English Literature/Librarianship
- a license or certification for Librarianship
- a minimum of 3 years' experience of working in a Library
- excellent IT skills an excellent knowledge of Library databases
- an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers and others
- an ability to differentiate instruction for all learners
- an ability to participate in and establish collaborative structures
