Country Coordinator, Data Impact, Vietnam

The Country Coordinator will support the successful implementation of Data Impact technical assistance in Vietnam. This role requires a proactive employee whose experience working with local stakeholders, including government agencies, will help ensure Data Impact practices are adopted and assumed by the appropriate teams. In addition, this role will require technical knowledge to facilitate and steer discussions. The coordinator will interface between government agencies, Vital Strategies teams, initiative partners, and other stakeholders in the country. The country coordinator will also provide logístical, administrative, monitoring, and budgeting support to the Data for Health program.

Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor, Data for Health, the Country Coordinator will work in partnership with the Ministry of Health and General Statistics Office to provide oversight and assist with the implementation of all Data Impact initiative activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and according to government aims, approved work plans budgets and protocols.

Vital Strategies is an international public health organization. Our programs strengthen public health systems and address the world’s leading causes of illness, injury, and death. We currently work in 73 countries, supporting data-driven decision-making in government, advancing evidence-based public health policies, and mounting strategic communication campaigns. Vital Strategies’ priorities are driven by the greatest potential to improve and save lives. They include non-communicable disease prevention and commercial determinants of health (tobacco, alcohol, and ultra-processed foods); injury prevention (including drug overdose, road safety, and gender-based violence prevention); and environmental health (including air quality and lead poisoning). Our programs are primarily concentrated in low-and middle-income countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Pacific.

**Job Purpose**

The Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health Initiative aims to enhance public health data collection and use in low
- and middle-income countries. The initiative aims to ensure that a billion more people live in countries where data are used to steer public policy and program decisions. Under the Initiative, Vital Strategies, in partnership with other global public health organizations, is implementing a multi-year program to improve civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) and data used in policies and decision-making in 26 countries and municipalities in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Pacific. In several of those 26 countries, the Data for Health Initiative also aims to strengthen population-based cancer registration (CR). The Data Impact Program (DIP), under the D4H Initiative, started in Vietnam in 2021. The focal points for the DIP team in Vietnam are the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Unit in the General Department of Preventative Medicine (GDPM) within the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Leader of the Department of Population and Labour Statistics within the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The Country Coordinator will support the successful implementation of Data Impact technical assistance in Vietnam. This position will be remote based in Hanoi, Vietnam. The salary range for this position is 900,000,000 VND to 1,000,000,000 VND.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

- Collaborate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health and General Statistics Office, to produce operational Data for Health Data Impact work plans with clear milestones, timelines, and monitoring plans related to country activities and projects.
