Project Coordinator

HIV prevention, care and treatment


Through a cooperative agreement with the US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC), our team brings clinical and technical backgrounds to expand, standardize, and integrate the Vietnam National HIV program at the national level.

We collaborate with the Vietnam Administration for HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC) and provincial Departments of Health to build the capacity of health workers in HIV prevention and treatment, improve the quality of care provided to people living with HIV.

Our work supports the goal of ending AIDS by 2030.

Job Location:
This position will be based in Hanoi with travel to project sites in Vietnam.

Overall Responsibilities


The Project Coordinator in HIV prevention, care, and treatment will bring public health and technical expertise to support the implementation and achievement of project goals.

S/he will provide training and technical assistance in HIV and related fields and will support efforts to develop models of person-centered HIV care in Vietnam.

S/he will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of sub-projects with HAIVN partners located in Hanoi and the northern provinces.

S/he will work under the technical direction of the HAIVN Project Director, based in Hanoi.

Specific Responsibilities:

_ 50% of time - Training_

  • Conduct virtual and inperson trainings on HIV prevention, personcentered models of HIV care, and preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and antiretroviral therapy (ART) delivery
  • Develop training materials and keep up to date on evidencebased HIV research, care innovations, and delivery models
  • Coordination of training events and workshops in compliance with local regulations and approval requirements

_30% of time - Clinical Mentoring and Technical Assistance_

  • Provide technical input to the National HIV Program in the development of national guidelines, circulars, action plans, and training materials
  • Travel to health centers to provide clinical mentoring on HIV treatment and care delivery
  • Develop, revise, and adapt training materials, job aides, and patient information materials, etc.

_10% of time - External Stakeholder Engagement_

  • Build capacity of provincial partners (e.g., provincial Centers for Disease Control, and health facilities) for monitoring program quality and addressing gaps when identified
  • Develop and deliver presentations to share outcomes and lessons learned from HAIVN's initiatives with various stakeholders including US CDC, VAAC, PEPFAR, and other partner agencies.
  • Develop and track capacity building plans for community partners including communitybased organizations (CBOs), social enterprises, and keypopulation
- (KP) led clinics.

_10% of time - Project Management and Evaluation_

  • Develop and track subproject work plans and budgets and assist HAIVN partners in the planning, monitoring, and implementation of project activities
  • Contribute to the writing of project reports, technical briefs, success stories, and other communication

Required Experience

  • Medical Doctorate from Vietnamese Institution
  • At least 5 years of experience in public health implementation
  • Experience working with international donor funded projects

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to provide training, mentoring and coaching to health workers and managers
  • Ability to write technical documents such as training curricula, operating procedures, and technical briefs.
  • Fluency in Vietnamese and English including reading, speaking and writing
  • Able to work effectively in a complex international environment
  • Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Good computer and information technology skills
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Able to work both independently and as team member
  • Able to work under pressure, to meet deadlines
  • Able and willing to travel within Vietnam
  • Passionate about empowering clients and community and improving the lives of people living with HIV
