Senior/Lead Backend Developer (Java + AI)

Salary:
2,500 - 3,150 USD (Gross Monthly)

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Senior/Lead Backend Developer to design and build high-performance backend systems that support large-scale, real-time chat and AI interaction platforms. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on development, and system architecture responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable backend systems, services, and APIs.
  • Translate business requirements into high-level technical specifications.
  • Lead technical direction and define architectural standards.
  • Review code and ensure best practices in performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with Product and DevOps teams to deliver features quickly and effectively.
  • Mentor engineers on design patterns, code quality, and optimization.
  • Identify system bottlenecks and drive performance improvements.
  • Ensure strong practices in monitoring, alerting, and system resilience.

Requirements:

Must-Have:

  • 7+ years of software development experience, including time as a Senior Engineer or Team Lead.
  • Proven experience designing and building large-scale, distributed backend systems.
  • Hands-on mindset and ability to implement core components independently.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
  • Familiar with DevOps concepts, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), and cloud deployment models.
  • Adaptable to various tech stacks; experience with Go or Java preferred.
  • Passion for problem-solving and using new technologies, including AI.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with real-time or AI-integrated platforms, especially chat/agentic systems.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-mentoring capability.
  • Ability to balance architectural vision with practical execution.
