POSITION SUMMARY

The
SAP Master Data Lead
is responsible for leading the overall
Master Data Management (MDM)
function across Masan's business units and subsidiaries.

This role oversees the design, governance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of master data processes in SAP and related systems. The position also manages the
Master Data team
, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integration across all business functions (Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Retail).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Master Data Management & Governance

• Own and lead end-to-end Master Data Management processes in SAP (MM/MDG) across Material, Vendor, Customer, Pricing, and Site domains.
• Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, naming conventions, and data ownership framework across all business units.
• Ensure master data accuracy, completeness, and synchronization across SAP and integrated systems.
• Define and monitor data quality metrics (completeness, validity, uniqueness, consistency, timeliness) and ensure compliance through automated checks and dashboards.
• Coordinate with functional leads (FICO, Logistics, Production, Commercial, Procurement) to ensure business requirements are effectively supported.
• Lead data migration activities during ERP projects (upload, validation, reconciliation using LSMW, eCATT, LTMC).
• Manage system integration via EDI/ALE/IDoc with central procurement and master data systems.

2. Team Leadership & Operations

• Build, manage, and develop the Master Data team (data specialists and domain stewards).
• Define clear team structure, role responsibilities, and performance KPIs aligned with business needs.
• Supervise day-to-day operations of master data creation, change, and deactivation requests.
• Ensure SLAs and OLAs for master data operations are met; monitor backlog and turnaround time.
• Drive team capability development through training, mentoring, and continuous improvement.
• Manage external vendors or partners supporting SAP MDG operations and related tools.

3. Governance Council & Stakeholder Management

• Chair or coordinate the Master Data Governance Council with IT and business representatives.
• Align master data priorities with business transformation projects and system changes.
• Collaborate with business users to analyze, document, and improve data management processes.
• Act as key liaison between ERP/IT and business functions for master data-related matters.

4. Continuous Improvement & Risk Management

• Identify system or process gaps and propose enhancement initiatives to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
• Establish preventive and corrective actions for SAP data incidents and audit findings.
• Support compliance with internal controls and audit requirements (e.g., SoD, change history, access rights).
• Promote automation and self-service tools to simplify master data maintenance and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience in SAP MM/MDG functional analysis and data governance.
• At least 6 years of experience in SAP consulting or in-house implementation roles.
• Minimum 3 full-cycle SAP implementation projects.
• Proven track record in leading a Master Data or Data Governance team in a large enterprise environment.

Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of SAP MDG/MM configuration, data models, and workflows (BRF+, derivations, validations).
• Hands-on experience with SAP data migration tools (LSMW, eCATT, LTMC).
• Familiarity with SAP Ariba and system integration via IDoc/ALE/EDI.
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and data quality management principles.
