Purpose of the position:
The R&D Specialist (AI Specialist) is responsible for developing and maintaining data and AI infrastructures, including data pipelines, IT systems, and AI/ML models for forecasting, image recognition, and production optimization. The role also involves collaborating with IoT teams on AIoT solutions, developing AI-powered internal applications, and leading organizational AI awareness and responsible-use initiatives.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop AI/ML-based forecasting and predictive models for manufacturing operations, focusing on time series data.
- Design and develop computer vision systems for image recognition in manufacturing processes.
- Build, organize, and manage IT infrastructure to support the development and deployment of AI/ML systems.
- Experienced in working with data systems (batch and streaming data), handling and organizing data sources for AI/ML.
- Work with batch and streaming data systems, responsible for processing and organizing data pipelines to support AI/ML models.
- Collaborate with the IoT team to design, build, and enhance integrated AIoT systems and solutions.
- Design and develop internal applications leveraging AI technologies to enhance business processes and operational efficiency.
- Conduct training programs to raise organizational awareness of AI technologies and promote understanding of potential risks and ethical considerations in AI adoption.
- Focus on developing practical, high-impact AI solutions that deliver immediate business value and operational efficiency.
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by the manager.
Scope of authorisation / decision making
The R&D Specialist (AI Specialist) is authorized to design and implement data and AI systems, including data pipelines, AI/ML solutions, and internal AI applications. They may decide on technical approaches, tools, and visualizations (e.g., Power BI) and collaborate with the IoT team on AIoT systems. Major strategic or structural changes require approval from the R&D Manager.
