About the Role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA—and that's all part of the fun. This role gives you a flavour of the type of things you'll be working on, but it will likely evolve.

You will lead Canva's SEO expansion into Vietnam's rapidly growing digital market, building and scaling a high-performing local SEO team to capture a massive untapped opportunity among 79.8 million internet users. Our ambitious goal is to achieve 8-10% market penetration within 2-3 years (starting from our current 4.35% penetration).

Supported by a broad team of global experts, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of SEO (technical/content/link building) across Vietnam-specific pages on You'll have access to a range of the best enterprise-level third-party tools, as well as several platforms and products we have built in-house that help us do world-class SEO.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Strategic SEO leadership: Drive the development and implementation of comprehensive SEO strategy for Vietnam, covering technical SEO, content generation, link building, and landing page optimisation while maintaining deep understanding of how Vietnam priorities align with broader International SEO Team and company goals.
• Team building & management: Build and lead a high-performing team of SEO specialists including SEO generalists, content specialists, and outreach experts, supporting team growth through strategic hiring and professional development as the market scales.
• Market expertise & competitive intelligence: Become the definitive expert in Vietnam's search landscape for Canva-relevant niches, develop comprehensive understanding of local and global competitors, and continuously identify strategic opportunities for market expansion.
• Content & localisation strategy: Collaborate with content specialists and localisation teams to prioritise and execute content strategies, including localising English pages, optimising Vietnam-specific content, and launching bespoke Vietnamese pages and strategies based on impact and effort analysis.
• Technical excellence & link building: Oversee technical site hygiene using third-party monitoring tools, partner with outreach specialists to define link-building targets and tactics, and ensure optimal site performance for Vietnamese users and search engines.
• Performance analytics & reporting: Proactively monitor, analyse, and report on Vietnamese market SEO performance, develop market-specific KPIs and reporting frameworks, and generate actionable insights from Vietnamese user behaviour and search patterns to drive continuous optimisation.

What we're looking for:

• Vietnamese market expertise: Native Vietnamese speaker with business-level English and deep understanding of Vietnamese search behaviour, cultural nuances, and ability to bridge local market insights with global business objectives.
• Proven SEO leadership experience: Demonstrated track record of leading successful SEO projects on large websites (500+ pages) with comprehensive understanding of all three SEO pillars - content, technical, and link building - and how they integrate for maximum impact.
• Team building & scaling capabilities: Strong ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams while leading through rapid growth and scaling challenges, with experience developing and executing multi-year market expansion strategies.
• Strategic vision & independent execution: Capability to build and articulate a vision for delivering exceptional growth in Vietnam, work independently to execute complex initiatives, and solve problems autonomously while maintaining alignment with global objectives.
• Communication & leadership excellence: Outstanding leader and communicator who brings clarity to diverse stakeholders, establishes structured reporting processes, streamlines team efficiency, and enables focus on high-impact work across global and local teams.
• Process excellence & analytical rigour: High attention to detail with ability to follow detailed processes efficiently, excellent analytical skills for data-driven decision making, and comfort working within established frameworks that enable rapid task execution.
• Technical proficiency: Hands-on expertise with comprehensive SEO and analytics toolset including Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Deepcrawl, Mode, Looker, and Dragon Metrics, with particular strength in mobile-first optimisation.
