Job description

We are launching a new department dedicated to building a next-generation data analytics platform leveraging the vast data assets of our group companies.

The foundation will be a Data Warehouse (DWH) on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery — the technology choice has already been made, and we are now seeking an experienced Data Engineer to drive its successful design and delivery.

This pivotal role will combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership to ensure the creation of a robust, scalable, and cost-effective platform that enables advanced analytics and business intelligence across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end technical design and implementation of the DWH on GCP BigQuery, including data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority, making key architecture and technology decisions.
  • Ensure high performance, scalability, and cost optimization of the platform.
  • Oversee project planning, progress tracking, risk mitigation, and quality assurance of technical deliverables.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Keep abreast of GCP BigQuery innovations and data engineering best practices, applying them to improve the platform.
  • Implement data governance, quality, and security standards across the solution.
Your skills and experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Hands-on expertise in GCP BigQuery and related GCP services.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, Java, or Scala
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, Talend).
  • Experience with streaming frameworks (e.g., Dataflow, Datastream, Pub/Sub, Kafka).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
