About The Project
Project title: Vietnam's Sustainable Cultural Tourism and the Digital Age: Where Traditions Converge with Transformation
Project summary: This project explores how Vietnam's rich cultural heritage can be preserved and promoted through digital transformation, with a focus on empowering local communities. As Vietnam advances toward a smart tourism ecosystem, many cultural sites and communities remain digitally underrepresented. The research aims to bridge this gap by developing a community-driven framework for digital storytelling that enhances authenticity, fosters social innovation, and supports sustainable tourism. It also proposes to investigate barriers to digital adoption and the role of inclusive storytelling in preserving cultural identity. The outcomes will contribute to RMIT Vietnam's research priorities in Digital Transformation and Social Innovation, while aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 12. Ultimately, the project seeks to create culturally sensitive digital practices that empower communities and transform Vietnam's cultural tourism landscape with Northern Vietnam as it primary area of study.
