Role Description
The
University & Career Counseling (UCC) Specialist
plays a pivotal role in guiding students through their academic and career planning journey. This position involves personalized counseling, program development, and collaboration with students, parents, teachers, and external partners to ensure students are well-prepared for university applications and future career paths.
Key Responsibilities
1. Career & University Counseling for Students (70%)
- Provide one-on-one counseling using career assessment tools to help students identify strengths, interests, and suitable career paths.
- Develop personalized academic and extracurricular roadmaps to support students' university application goals (domestic and international).
- Guide students in building competitive university application profiles, including course selection, skill development, and extracurricular involvement.
- Teach and co-develop career education curriculum across grade levels.
- Organize workshops and seminars on career exploration, university admissions, and application strategies.
- Support students in shortlisting suitable universities and preparing application materials.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive database of university programs, career trends, and labor market insights.
- Regularly report on student interests, counseling outcomes, and university application trends.
- Manage and curate career-related resources and materials for student access.
2. Parent Engagement & Counseling (15%)
- Conduct workshops and information sessions for parents on early career planning, university preparation, and education trends.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding students' progress and university planning.
- Provide tailored advice to parents on university application strategies and timelines.
- Facilitate connections between parents and university representatives for in-depth consultation.
3. Internal Collaboration with Faculty (10%)
- Train and support teachers on career education and university application processes.
- Share student career interests and university goals with homeroom and subject teachers to align support.
- Collaborate with departments to design student development programs.
- Provide annual reports on student data and propose improvements for future academic years.
4. Student Council & Media Coordination (10%)
- Coordinate and oversee Student Council activities to promote leadership, confidence, and school spirit.
- Manage and update media content related to student clubs and projects on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
- Plan and schedule posts to ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Review and approve content to maintain consistency and professionalism across media channels.
5. Additional Responsibilities (5%)
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the career education curriculum.
- Build and maintain an alumni network to support current students and promote the school's reputation.
- Organize alumni sharing sessions on university life and career experiences.
- Participate in professional development and school-wide events as required.
- Support school admissions and other educational activities as assigned by the leadership team.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or relevant postgraduate qualifications preferred.
- At least one completed training course in career counseling.
- Prior experience in career and university counseling, preferably in an international or bilingual school setting.
- Teaching experience is an advantage.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Effective classroom management and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in organizing events and managing student activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
- Familiarity with university application processes (Vietnamese and international systems).
