Senior Automation Specialist

The Automation Specialist role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and accelerating business outcomes through intelligent automation.

This position involves designing, developing, and deploying robust automation solutions using the company's orchestration, low-code and AI platform tooling. The specialist will work to connect the company's cloud-based SaaS applications (to solve defined problems), streamline business processes, and eliminate repetitive manual tasks.

While initially a hands-on delivery role for high-impact automation projects, it will evolve to include enabling, governing, and supporting citizen developers across the business.

Analysis and Solution Design

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to analyse and document existing processes, identifying inefficiencies and key opportunities for automation.
• Translate business requirements into well-architected, scalable, and secure automation workflows.
• Design solutions that are not only effective but also maintainable and reusable, contributing to a growing library of components.

Development and Implementation

• Develop, test, and deploy sophisticated automations and integrations using the company's lowcode/ iPaaS and AI platforms.
• Manage the technical integration between core SaaS systems (e.g., CRM, Finance, HRIS), ensuring seamless data flow.
• Ensure all developed solutions adhere to established compliance standards for quality, security, and data governance.

Enablement and Support

• Act as a subject matter expert and technical consultant for federated citizen developers throughout the business.
• Provide training, run workshops, and offer one-to-one guidance to upskill business users in automation best practices

Governance and Continuous

• Improvement Participate in the peer review process to ensure automations built by citizen developers are efficient, secure, and aligned with best practices.
• Proactively monitor the health, performance, and business value of deployed automations, recommending improvements where necessary.
• Actively participate in the Automation Community of Practice (CoP), sharing successes, lessons learned, and fostering a collaborative environment.

Business Acumen & Impact

• Apply a deep understanding of the company's commercial objectives to inform low-code and automation strategies and investments.
• Demonstrate mature problem-solving skills, balancing commercial needs with sound technical decisions for low-code/ automation solutions.
• Analyze the commercial aspects of process automation and rapid application development, articulating clear solution options, including build vs. buy vs. low-code considerations.
• Ensure low-code platform and automation strategies deliver both short-term agility and longterm scalability and maintainability.
• Select and implement low-code platforms and automation tools that optimize for business outcomes, prioritizing speed and efficiency

• Proven experience in a similar role, such as a Process Automation Developer, Integration Specialist, or a Business Systems Analyst with a strong technical aptitude.
• Demonstrable experience in business process mapping, requirements gathering, and translating business needs into technical solutions.
• Proven track record of rapid adaptation to new technologies and tools
• Deep understanding of enterprise-grade low-code platforms: e.g. OutSystems, Workato, Mendix, Nintex etc.
• Understanding of common integration techniques and technologies (e.g., IPaaS, GraphQL, ETL, APIs, connectors, middleware)
• Knowledge of process automation tools (e.g. RPA and Workflow automation) and process modelling methodologies: (e.g. BPMN)
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Understanding of data governance and compliance, particularly in the context of low-code development
• Strong English communication skills (both verbal & written), especially in the global software development environment Provide continuous support and guidance to less senior colleagues through regular coaching activities and support them in fulfilling their personal development plans.
