We are seeking a dedicated Consultant who will play an important role in protecting the environment. As a Consultant, you will be providing expert advice to clients on environmental and social matters and EHSS legal compliance. Support with the development of the Wiser business in Vietnam.

As an Environmental and Social Consultant at Wiser Environment Vietnam, you will:

• Provide competent and accurate advice to clients on environmental, health, safety, social and waste planning issues.
• Provide technical expertise on ESG, ESMS, Due Diligence, Audit, E&S Legal Registers and Advisory.
• Review documents produced for Wiser Vietnam projects for legal accuracy.
• E&S legal and regulatory knowledge, legal updates & advisor to management.
• Advise clients on the full spectrum of E&S legal and public policy matters, from strategic thinking to participating in regulatory changes, ESG issues and overall government affairs management.
• Participate in and project manage various kinds of projects including but not limited to; EHS and social audits, E&S legal advisor, environmental permitting, due diligence assessments, Phase I ESA, EHS and social regulatory review and advisory services, and EHS and social management system. Tasks may include:

-     Conducting document review and research.

-     Conducting review and providing regulatory advisory services.

-     Conducting site visit and/or field audit.

-     Meeting with client and relevant parties include authorities.

-     Writing parts or the whole report.

-     Supporting the development of EHS management systems integrated with legal requirement & sustainability.

• Assisting Senior Management Team in the development of the Wiser Vietnam business.
• Develop and improve client relationships.
• Project manage and complete Environmental Impact Assessment to deadlines whilst meeting the requirements of legislation.
• Provide clear proposals to clients which meet their brief and ensure sustainability of the Wiser Environment business.
• Provide advice to clients in identifying ESG and legal risks, and how to manage such risks to stay competitive and be recognised as responsible corporate citizens.
• Provide technical expertise on key issues related to; environmental and social impact; sustainability risks in the design, preparation, implementation, and supervision of projects, compliance with legal requirements, IFC, and ADB Standards.
• Manage and conduct environmental and social safeguarding due diligence.
• Adhere to health and safety practices of the business and that of clients when undertaking site work. Ensure other team members act safely.
• Support in training, coaching, and developing colleagues in environmental impact assessment, waste management, and sustainable development.
• Efficiently manage time and projects, accurately recording and reporting progress, project allocation, budgets and time spent.
• Build productive working relationships with clients, ensuring regular communication, and offering solutions in overcoming compliance issues.
• Report regularly to Team Leader on project progress, workload, efficiency, and client relationships.
• Continually develop own knowledge and understanding of legislation, guidance and developments in sustainability, energy and environmental matters.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

• Degree level qualification in legal, environmental or related subject.
• Experience in legal, environmental, and social or policy. This may be within a consultancy, government, research agency/think tank, NGO or private sector/industry organisation or relevant.
• 3 years minimum experience in E&S Legal advisory/ E&S legal compliance audits and other management system audit processes / or knowledge of relevant government regulations and requirements.
• Experience in consultancy service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English – IELTS Band 7 or above.
• Fluent in Vietnamese language.
• Proficient user of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

Desired

• Strong knowledge & capacity in legal matters.
• Familiar with international standards and projects for organisations such as IFC, ILO, UNDP, etc
• Extended practical experience in construction or manufacturing or other industry.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Waste management, Climate Change, Renewables.
• Extended practical/ consultancy experience in Green House Gases (GHG), carbon credits.
• Regulatory experience.
• International experience.
