**Position Description**:
The **Senior Technical Advisor, Infectious Diseases** will work within the USAID Support to End TB Project team to provide technical assistance (TA) to the Government of Vietnam and focus provinces and USAID to improve TB detection and enhance treatment outcomes. S/he will be responsible for guiding the project’s overall technical strategy and activities, ensuring the effective development and implementation of project activities, and technical quality of the project. The Senior Technical Advisor, Infectious Diseases will also provide mentoring and development opportunities for technical staff and guide and co-develops the production of technical documents, including the preparation of manuscripts and conference abstracts. The Advisor will also provide technical leadership to the regional infectious disease portfolio, including providing technical assistance, quality assurance, and business development. The position will be **based in Hanoi, Vietnam.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide technical assistance and leadership to develop technical strategies and innovations in TB programming in Vietnam, drawing on national and international high-impact practices and evidence.
- Under the guidance of the project leadership team, liaise and collaborate with USAID, Government of Vietnam, and other stakeholders in the design, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
- Represent the project through attendance and presentations at national, regional, and global TB technical meetings, as required.
- Provide technical oversight and support to all technical areas of the project ensuring that global state-of-the-art and USAID’s TB strategies are optimized.
- Guide data-driven decisions to ensure targets are reached and best practices/proven interventions are implemented with fidelity.
- Co-develop and provide inputs for technical documents (manuscripts, workplan, reports, technical briefs, success stories, conference abstracts, ad-hoc requests from donors, etc.).
- Contribute to project knowledge management and sharing efforts.
- Identify and enlist the support FHI 360’s technical resources and expertise to ensure the quality and technical excellence of the SET TB.
- Serve as a technical partner ensuring technical quality and provide technical assistance to FHI 360 infectious diseases activities in the Asia Pacific Region. Responsibilities will also include serving as capture and design lead and/or technical contributor for business development activities in the region.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Medical degree with a preference for another advanced degree (MPH, PhD, or similar degree) and 10 years of related experience.
- At least seven years of work experience on infectious disease programs, including TB, with at least four years at a senior level. Knowledge and experience in multi-drug resistant TB and TB diagnostics and laboratory services preferred.
- Demonstrated success at providing infectious disease expertise in a senior capacity of advising program, government, and other stakeholders on the design, implementation, and monitoring of infectious disease programs; experienced in advocating with senior-level government officials.
- Demonstrated expertise and success in overseeing research activities and leading the development and submission of manuscripts and conference abstracts.
- Must be a confident communicator and presenter.
- Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences and organizations essential.
- Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Fluency in another language from an Asian country preferred.
- Experience working in Vietnam preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading and oral presentation skills are essential.
