In line with its vision for sustained growth and impact, Akselos is strategically expanding its development team with an additional **Backend Developer.**

The role is to help us enhance our cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC) platform. The platform allows all types of engineers to configure physical models, perform large-scale engineering simulations based on real-time sensor data, and visualize the results in PowerBI or one of our frontends.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Improve the server backend code in terms of features and performance
- Develop the server backend, adding new features to meet business requirements.
- Profile backend services and make necessary performance improvements.
- Understand relevant security issues for the service.
- Proactively audit code for logic errors and vulnerabilities.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Create automated tests as needed
- Help to configure and maintain the cloud deployment
- Make architectural changes as necessary to allow smooth scaling of cloud resources according to demand.
- Implement new logging, diagnostic, monitoring, and notification tools to help ensure reliable operation of the cloud service.
- Help to deploy and maintain the service on the cloud platform
- Help maintain and improve our CI/CD systems
- Make incremental improvements to the browser-based frontend
- Add UI widgets as necessary to allow users to access new backend features

**Your qualifications and experience**:

- Fluency in Python and SQL; Rust also helpful
- Experience in designing and maintaining distributed systems using a major cloud provider
- Linux systems administration experience
- Familiarity with common tools and workflows used for building, testing, and deployment
- Experience with InfluxDB, Azure EventHub, or other tools relevant to time-series data
- Experience with Slurm or other HPC tools
- Frontend/Fullstack knowledge (Javascript, Typescript, React, Flask) helpful
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
- Four or more years professional software development experience, or other relevant, demonstrable experience
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, physics, engineering, or related field
- Initiative to come up with ideas for ways to improve the code base
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively to other team members
- Passionate about learning new technologies and developing technical solutions
