**About the Role**

**Role Overview**:
We are seeking a seasoned **Principal RUST Systems Engineer** to lead and drive the development of critical components for our Layer 2 blockchain solution. As a key leader in our team, you will take ownership of the design, implementation, and optimization of the system architecture while managing a multidisciplinary team. Your expertise in Rust, blockchain architecture, and team leadership will be instrumental in delivering innovative, scalable, and reliable solutions.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Leadership & Team Management**: Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, fostering collaboration and maintaining high-performance standards. Guide the team from concept to execution, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
- **Database Design & Development**: Solve complex state access challenges through innovative database and storage solutions that ensure efficient and scalable data management.
- **PEVM Integration**: Oversee the integration of state management solutions with our parallel EVM engine, PEVM, in collaboration with the team.
- **Performance Optimization**: Analyze and enhance system performance, focusing on achieving low-latency and high-throughput requirements.
- **Ownership**: Take full ownership of system components, from ideation and design to implementation and maintenance, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- **Collaboration**: The project is FOSS and we have a high standard for code quality, external collaboration and processes.

**Requirements**:

- **Experience**: 5+ years of experience in systems programming, strongly emphasising Rust.
- **Team Leadership**: Proven experience leading engineering teams, managing cross-functional collaborations, and mentoring team members.
- **Database Design**: Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing scalable database systems to address complex state challenges.
- **Systems Engineering**: Advanced knowledge of multi-processing, low-level performance optimization, and rigorous benchmarking.
- **Ownership Mentality**: Strong track record of taking end-to-end ownership of system components or projects.
- **Problem-Solving**: Exceptional analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to devise innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.
- **Communication**: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Understanding of Ethereum or other blockchain platforms. Familiarity with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
- Experience with RETH or similar Ethereum client technologies.
- Knowledge of cryptography and security principles in blockchain systems.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
