- The Learning Support Teacher will perform a full range of duties, including but not limited to:

Rational
- Demonstrate an ability to develop excellent rapport with students, teachers, parents and visiting consultants.
- Actively participate in activities, assisting, intervening and encouraging students, individually or in groups.
- Work effectively as part of a team providing mutual support, sharing observations and expertise, and cooperatively implementing programs.
- Generate and implement an appropriate learning plan and associated strategies for each designated student in conjunction with the class teacher.
- Provide instruction to small groups of students involved in the middle school learning support program.
- Liaise with staff regarding student’ progress and requirements.
- When appropriate prepare materials and equipment for student use.
- Participate in Learning Support Group Meetings and faculty meetings.
- Develop and maintain a teacher record of all pertinent documentation including student attendance, lesson plans, assessment records, minutes of planning meetings etc.
- Demonstrate computer competency to support student programs and administrative tasks.
School Organisation
The Learning Support Teacher Teacher is expected to work in a positive, professional, supportive manner and develop a collaborative and team approach to enable the school to achieve its stated philosophy and its specific goals.
- Interview, test and make recommendations on the enrolment of new students.
- Create class lists and data of the number of months in the Middle School programme for each student up to date.
- Participate in setting annual goals and to monitor individual student progress on a weekly basis.
- Maintain an up-to-date attendance register for classes.
- Read staff notice board, memoranda and school bulletins daily.
- Report any situation which might constitute a health and/or safety hazard.
- Assist the administration and Head of Learning Support and Principal in the deployment of staff in the case of staff absence.
School Community
The LS Teacher is expected to view the role of parents in the learning process as important. Good parent/school relationships should be promoted and fostered.
- Be familiar with the diversity of the school community and student’s family background.
- Contribute to the Newsletter
- Attend teacher/parent events, include Open Days, Parent Teacher Conferences and Orientation Programmes.
- Liaise with parents as necessary
The LS Teacher will be expected to perform other duties as determined by the Head of School or/and Senior Leadership Team.***:
