We are looking for an experienced QA Engineer who obsesses over product quality and thrives in open-source. In this role, you'll be Heimdall, the release captain safeguarding Jan against YOLO releases that break UX and the dreaded "hotfix". **About Jan** Jan is an Open Intelligence built for simplicity across web, desktop, browser, and mobile. It features a powerful local mode that keeps your data fully private. **Responsibilities** - Design and execute comprehensive test strategies for Jan across **web, API platform, desktop and mobile platforms** - Build **automated test suites and Auto QA agents** across continuous releases, model updates, and API integrations - Own **build and CI/CD pipelines**, ensuring Jan runs across all major operating systems**:Windows, MacOS and Linux** - Ensure compatibility between web clients and various server node versions, testing upgrade paths and backwards compatibility - Validate resource management and performance optimizations when running models across different hardware configurations, including with GPU acceleration - Live in our **Discord community and GitHub Issues**: transform community feedback into actionable test cases - **Own release cycles**, triage bugs, and sound the alarm - **Create documentation** that actually helps users solve problems **Requirements**: - Minimum 2 years of experience as an Engineer or in a similar technical role - Strong understanding of software development life cycles and testing methodologies - Experience with test automation frameworks such as **Puppeteer, Playwright, Selenium, etc.** - Understanding of LLM behavior, common failure modes, and conversational/agentic AI testing - Experience with **GitHub Issues, CI/CD workflows, and modern development toolchains** - Outstanding written communication for both technical documentation and community interaction **Bonus Experience** - **Active contributor to open-source projects** or community management experience - **Battle-tested QA experience**: of a live product with >1mn users, and dealing with bugs and complaints
