HVAC Technician

The **HVAC Technician** operates, maintains, and repairs boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, water heaters, air handling and air conditioning units under the technical guidance of the Dept. of State Facilities Manager; maintains and repairs centrifugal chillers, cooling towers; heating boilers, humidifying steam boilers, main hot water systems, domestic water storage tanks, water heaters; air handling and air conditioning units, air filters, and air distribution systems; performs Preventative Maintenance on all HVAC systems in accordance with established schedules, operating procedures and equipment warranty; analyzes malfunctions in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and equipment and makes necessary adjustments or repairs, and may occasionally install HVAC equipment or components.

Responsibilities also include determining necessary spare parts and expendable supply requirements and manages stock to include reorder as required; travel to local vendors as necessary to procure materials; participates in random procurement process as necessary; uses petty cash when necessary; provides escort as necessary for locally employed staff and other non-cleared workers; provides support for other Contract personnel as necessary, and performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Licensed journeyman HVAC technician with minimum of 5 years’ experience in operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment including large (250+ tons), centrifugal chillers, 3 phase pumps and motors, boilers, humidifiers, air handler units, piping, heat exchangers, split systems, and associated equipment
- Should be familiar with Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Must be 21 years of age or older, have completed secondary school or obtained a GED
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance
