Manufacturing Engineer, New Product Introduction

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with process or product development with electro-mechanical products.
- Experience in manufacturing process or fixture development and validation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10 years of experience in research or product development involving electro-mechanical products.
- Experience with high-volume and high-precision consumer electronics.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: automation, adhesives, leak testing, sealing and waterproofing, lean manufacturing, manufacturing process layout and optimization.
- Experience in generating functional requirements specifications and tolerance analysis.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.
In this role, you will drive and guide early design decisions, and collaborate with manufacturing partners and equipment providers to develop robust, efficient, cost-effective, high volume assembly processes and solutions.

**Responsibilities**:
- Define architecture selection, in collaboration with Design and Industrial Design teams, by engaging in areas such as precision electronic assembly, automation, sealing, adhesives, metal fabrication and finishing, injection molding, display design, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Assembly design and fabrication, leak testing, product definition, and architecture selection.
- Identify, investigate, analyze, and integrate new manufacturing processes, technology, and equipment in support of program objectives.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners, by identifying functional requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and conferring with equipment providers.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency via analysis and planning of work flow, space requirements, production capacity, and equipment layout.
