**BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)**

***To design, develop and produce learning and teaching materials and deliver them across a range of programmes or within a specific discipline area. Lecturers will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the University’s strategy, policy and procedures; contribute to activities which influence leading edge practice; and will also undertake research and/or other University activities in line with BUV academic/faculty levels.

This particular position will have a teaching load that includes both teaching into standard degree programmes as it will having a key focus on working with Marketing and Student Recruitment to organize and coordinate innovative and exciting demo classes for high school students considering BUV as a university option. It will also be involved with the collection of pertinent promotional materials for external stakeholders to focus on the University’s growing reputation and understanding in the community.

**AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**

**Teaching experience**
- Use appropriate learning, teaching, support and assessment methods.
- Supervise student projects and the academic elements of field trips, and, where appropriate, placements,
- Identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement and contribute to the planning, design and development of objectives and material.
- Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.
- Ensure that module (course) design and delivery comply with quality standards and regulations of the University.

**Research, enterprise and scholarship**
- Engage in scholarship as required to support teaching activities and continually update ones own discipline knowledge.
- Conduct individual research or work on collaborative research projects.
- Develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research.
- Engage in collaborative partnerships and contribute to the University’s work in influencing leading edge practice.
- Make presentations at conferences and other similar events.

**Managing people and resources**
- As a module (course) leader or programme leader, co-ordinate with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure student needs and expectations are met.
- Manage projects relating to own area of work and the organisation of external activities such as placements and field trips.
- Mentor colleagues with less experience and advise on personal development.
- Co-ordinate the work of others to ensure modules are delivered to the standards required.

**Pastoral care**
- Be responsible for pastoral care of students within a specified area.
- Act as personal tutor, giving first-line support and mentoring to students.
- Appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances.
- Use listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning students and provide support.
- Refer students as appropriate to services providing further support.
